Florida Governor Ron DeSantis aspires to be the same kind of Autocrat despised by the founders of the United States. He must be exposed for what he is: a great threat to our Democratic Republic and American values. Republicans don't punish big businesses like the Walt Disney Company for disagreeing with them. Fascists do. DeSantis and those like him are a massive threat to our Democracy.

A little ironic if you ask me
Is dissing Trump his attempt at a hail mary? Too little, too late Ron. Maybe if he had attacked him this whole time, and maybe if he wasn't an authoritarian who abuses power himself he might have a tiny shot. But this is just sad.

What's the word journalists and AI used before "slam" became the status quo? It's extra strange considering how physical the word is--they don't care about confusion though: they get more clicks if we think DeSantis slammed Trump into something, against something, took a slam and the result was Trump, etc.

A polite version would be: talks about, blames, accuses. It's all a bit boring compared to the more violent words.
You also have other options for emoting physical violence, such as: tears into, takes a swing. They're longer so less click baity.
I didn't know desantis was able to say anything bad about trump.
