Looks like a wooden r2d2 in the mirror.

I have no knowledge on wood working.. but I can say it's amazing for the first try.

I write code. When I look at the code/logics that I have written years ago, I would amaze by myself that how did I really do it. Hope you would have similar feeling in few years

This is really nice. And from a woodworking casual permit me to say: not just “ah that’s nice” sentimentally, but an abomination or kitsch car boot find in 50 years… but professional looking proper nice. Great job.

I'm not a woodworker, but I love this community. This one brought back great memories of sitting and watching my grandfather carve similar pieces. Not mirrors, but he would make clocks or just wall pieces. I have several of his very early ones and then one of his last before he passed. Seeing the progression always makes me smile.

Thanks for sharing and reminding me of some good life moments.

Thank you so much! Can you share a picture? I would love the inspiration

Shitty pic, sorry. I'm in the middle of a move and pulled it out of a box. This one ended up displayed at Disneyland and won a people's choice award by park visitors. He was pretty proud of that.

Oh it’s incredible! Wow what an artist Thanks so much for digging that out to share. Where are you moving to? What’s going on?

This is great!

I’ve been trying to move up from whittling and into more carving tools, what kind of tools did you use to make this?

[–] NataliePortland@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 years ago

I used mostly a straight 3/4” chisel, a v- gouge with a deep v, and a gouge

UP Wood Art is where i learned
