Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Maybe this is misguided of me but I’m more concerned about the far right that does participate in German society than these seclusionists. They’re basically trying to do a hostile takeover of a village which is concerning, but I’m far more concerned about the growing popularity and eventual rise to power of the AfD.

I think these could act as a base of support for the AfD though. I'm not very informed about German politics, but I don't think these have to be mutually exclusive.

Nah, they're two different and parallel fash movements. Reichsbürger are basically the German equivalent to Sovereign Citizens. Weirdos that nobody takes seriously. In fact, they kinda rose to prominence after the AfD. Beyond a few shootouts with the cops, the most prominent thing they did was the ridiculous coup plot earlier this year - but that had 0 chance of succeeding and was basically preparations for adventurism.

Also, fascist attempts at rural hegemony aren't new and are actually kinda successful in the east - and not just Varg-style LARP-Villages like Jamel, but the AfD is largely hegemonic in the countryside in the east and has had success in the West as well.

I assumed that the people taking part in these are already AfD voters or are even further right. If you’re worried that these will allow far right or far right inclined people’s to be further radicalized then yeah that could easily be an issue.

This looks like it's sort of a far-right parody of dual power, so I think that it's the inevitable product if they are anywhere near successful that they will use the political and cultural power of the municipal institutions that they've seized in order to spread fascism among the general population.

Oh shit good point. I hadn’t thought of that.

There is a very odd amount of things in germany that are

a) very vital to everyday life

b) in the responsibilities of the municipalities to administrate

c) have absolutely 0 fucking oversight

Like usually this just nets you corruption but a municipality infiltrated by the nazis enough is on a pretty fucking good way to kick out everyone deemed unfit by way of bureaucratic bullying

Interesting approach.

Buy property in area. Be openly nazi, as visible as possible, to the point of being as obnoxious and scary as possible.

Drive locals that don't share nazi values out of the area using terror-lite tactics. Intimidation, fear, bullying and presence.

Remainder conform to new cultural norm you create for the area.

In a way it's an adaptation of dual power for communists. It should work almost as-is and be part of the effort of every commune, but in my experience communes seem to become isolationist rather than aiming to have as impactful an effect as they can on their surrounding area. Maybe if they were operated as part of an organised party things would be different, if the party owned the property the party exists as a pressure to actually do work in the area and not isolate. Essentially pop up influence centers maintained by a group of full time revolutionaries.

Oh did they find another hapsburg to follow?

They're waving Prussian flags, so more likely they found a Hohenzollern

[–] theposterformerlyknownasgood@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Not as far as I'm aware. The Reichsburgers don't actually have much in the way of connection to the Hohenzollerns. Georg Friedrich doesn't actually want to do anything except sue the government to get more free shit he shouldn't have. The article talks of the KRD, their "King" is Peter Fizek. A former chef, book store owner, possibly martial artist, and definite crank.

[–] dreugeworst@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah I wasn't serious, just figured Prussian flags and habsburgs doesn't compute

Different movement, there's multiple of them

Cool, so now that we are aware. We will sent in the military to round up and execute them for conspiracy of terrorism before they eventually start killing people, right? This is a matter of national security after all.

Right?

In one of the funnier moments of saying the quiet part out loud, the Police Chief for the City of Stuttgart got critized for allowing massive demonstrations during the high covid times that were absolutely and massively in violation of ordinance as per masks, minimum distancing and allowed maximum gathering numbers, and he basically just said "well what do you want us to do, these are regular middle class people, we can't use the water cannon on those"
