lol I love this movie, both the original and remake are major comfort films for me

turning a stylish neon-soaked exploitation flick into a slow burn character-driven horror with complex themes was such a risk that isn't going to pay off for everyone but it did for me. it makes that bonkers-ass ending so much more impactful. the chemistry between Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton is unreal. my only complaint is the lack of closure for the character of Madame Blanc, her fate was left open-ended for a potential sequel that never happened and wasn't necessary

also there is dialogue explicitly criticizing West Germany for its treatment of women and for having nazis in power

I will give it credit for basically saying the only thing the RAF did wrong was not succeeding more.

i enjoyed it for its cozy color palate/lighting and the mother markos reveal onward was fucking crazy haha. i gotta check out the original.

Yeah the original looked really beautiful. But I watched the remake because the trailer made it look terrifying but the movie was… a bit tame to say the least.

yeah it wasn't like that memorable or anything, two and a half hours was definitely a bit much

The premise of a witch coven running a dance camp is definitely intriguing. But I don’t know. Somehow the movie felt on the nose and super vague at the same time. In that way, it reminds me a little of Parasite, but some reason I like that movie more.

The original is hilarious too

Interesting. I’ve only seen a few reviews of the movie and I was expecting something like Antichrist lol

I wish we got the story of the new movie with the visuals of the old movie.

God the remake sucks so fucking bad especially the scene where someone is like contorting and pissing themselves I was just exasperated
