Dunking on Tankies from a leftist, anti-capitalist perspective.

Rules:

  1. No bigotry of any kind.
  2. No tankies or right-wingers. Liberals are allowed so long as they are aware of this
  3. No genocide denial

We allow posts about tankie behavior even off fedi, shitposts, and rational, leftist discussion.

Curious about non-tankie leftism? If you've got a little patience for 19th century academic style, let a little Marx and Kropotkin be your primer!

Marx's Communist Manifesto, short and accessible! Highly recommended if you haven't read it

Tankies forget that the CCP is against the lgbtq.

[–] goat@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 years ago

nooo, they remove gay scenes because it's uhhh... western propaganda, something something, america bad, something cia

[–] Astroturfed@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I saw one of them claiming China was more LGBT friendly than the use the other day and it took me a second to process that they were being completely serious.

[–] cosmicboi@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

After hearing what China did to the Uyghur (sp?) people, this is not surprising at all

[–] phillaholic@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They believe that’s a hoax.

[–] Ataraxia@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

Tankies, keep up.

[–] Sir_Simon_Spamalot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I wish they'd just go to China by themselves so we may never hear from them again.

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 5 points 2 years ago

"N-no, you see, they have to censor us because we're Western dogs... self-flagellation for the Comrade-Chairman will redeem us of our sin of birth!"

[–] Chickenstalker@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Useful idiots are like chained guard dogs. They belong outside the house.

[–] Dirk@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Not even the ones who's figurative dick they figuratively sucking want them. I wonder why they're not defederated form anywhere yet. (Same with Lemmygrad and to some extend Kbin)

[–] EnglishMobster@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Kbin doesn't have a tankie problem, though?

The guy running Kbin has a reasonable head on his shoulders. I've never seen any problematic folks there. Heck, Kbin is one of the places Beehaw still federates with.

[–] flicker@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

@Dirk

I do kbin mostly and I can't say I've ever seen a single hexbear post or mag (and only a handful of their users) unless it was someone else telling me what hexbear is or complaining about them.

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They haven't whitelisted kbin, so you won't see their posts (edit: unless they're made to non-hexbear communities). Only their comments on other instances, and a fair number have blocked them at this point.

[–] bingbong@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wait, if they're not federated, then their comments are still visible?

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

If I understand correctly, their posts and comments to communities on other instances will still remain visible to you until your instance specifically blocks them. Hexbear won't talk directly talk to kbin, but will talk to lemm.ee, and lemm.ee will tell kbin about posts and comments that hexbear users have made on lemm.ee's communities.

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee -1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

That’s because they’re not communists. They’re anarchist trolls making fun of everything—including themselves.

[–] FluffyPotato@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

Please don't lump anarchists in with those Stalin worshipping crazies.

[–] uniqueid198x@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I've gotten serious pushback from them for advancing basic anarchist ideas. The prevailing ideology amongst hexbear users is not anarchist.

[–] winterayars@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah, as an anarchist they are DEFINITELY not anarchists.

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee -1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Well, that is contrary to my experience. Most of them say tear it down and destroy it and then if it survives, fill it with communism. That’s anarchy.

[–] uniqueid198x@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah, I was thinking the social organizing principle, rather than the colloquial. Hexbear has very few Anarchists

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lots of lip service coming from them in that regard.

[–] uniqueid198x@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 years ago

They like to talk about left unity, but all their heros sent the secret police after "left socialists" like anarchists and unionists

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm starting to doubt your ability to identify anarchists.

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’ll agree it’s weaker than my ability to identify a communist. So whatever you call them, it’s not communism. It’s just lip service.

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I can appreciate the desire of modern communists to avoid a repeat of how things went with the USSR, China, etc. However, I don't think you can wholly repudiate the tankies as non-communist.

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Make them rich and see how communist they really are.

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean, I guess, maybe? I think Marxism-Leninism is a fucked up ideology, but I don't categorically doubt the sincerity of MLs. They'd probably put any sudden windfall towards some sort of vanguard party centralized power bullshit that they think will eventually lead to communism, as is consistent with their ideas.

As an anarchist, I don't think that would be a good use of the money, but I don't have any particular reason to believe that they'd be more hypocritical about it than any other communist or leftist.

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee -1 points 2 years ago

Everyone is a communist/anarchist when they’re poor.

[–] SeducingCamel@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah I see hexbear has gone from alt right trolls to anarchist trolls now

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They weren’t really alt-right if they love communism.

[–] PM_ME_YOUR_ZOD_RUNES@sh.itjust.works -3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm at the point where I'm more annoyed at the hexbear complainers than the actual hexbear users. The most interaction I've had with Hexbear was through posts complaining about them. Everyone seems to understand that they are trolls but are intent on feeding them.

They are not as big of a problem as some might have you believe.

[–] hark@lemmy.world -3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Look at the flurry of downvotes you've received for daring to interrupt the circlejerk.

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Surprisingly, complaining in a community about how tired you are of hearing about the subject of that community doesn't tend to play well.

[–] hark@lemmy.world -2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

A whole community existing just for this purpose only proves their point further.

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

And their point is what, exactly? That they can't find the "Block Community" button?

[–] PM_ME_YOUR_ZOD_RUNES@sh.itjust.works -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Complaining about Hexbear is not limited to a single community. Not even close.

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Fair. A lot of people do have grievances with them.

Still, this community and meanwhileongrad account for a significant portion of the discussion about tankies, and would probably be worth it for you to block.

[–] hark@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

You're on kbin.social, why can't you find the block domain feature if it bothers you so much?

[–] pozbo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You're still here... You can block the user who's opinion offends you if it bothers you so much.

[–] hark@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago

and miss out on your delicious tears? No way!

[–] cacheson@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

If I were tired of hearing about tankies, I wouldn't be participating in this community.
