I played Lost Odyssey a short while after playing FF13 and the whiplash was pretty intense. After suffering through the overdesigned, overwrought and annoying nonsense that was FF13 playing a game that actually felt like Final Fantasy again brought a tear to my eye
Also, when it comes to Lost Odyssey being trapped on the 360, from what I hear it runs nicely on the Xenia emulator. Haven't tried it myself though but would recommend you do, just grab the rom from the links in the pinned emulation megathread- it's free! 
I really liked the game's character designs, they didn't have generic anime faces or the creepy hyper realistic doll aesthetic Square Enix has been going for like 20 years
