it's probably silly but I have a hard time not viewing Tesla drivers with contempt

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago (2 children)

There are so many teslas near where i live and it fills me with that same contempt all day

[–] very_poggers_gay@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

i swear like 25% of drivers in my area are either teslas or bmw sedans and none of them stop at stop signs

[–] invo_rt@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

Same. When I get the signal to cross the street near my house and I see a Tesla coming up, I'll just wait for the next one.

It's fun to browbeat the libs that bought them when they thought mElon was the IFLScience epic bacon reddit man by concern trolling them about melon being a huge chud.

Dont reckon youre alone there

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

I was riding with a relative in their tesla. While we’re waiting at a stoplight, another tesla pulled up and they both rolled down their windows talk about their specs

installs a comically large white glove to constantly slap at your face while your driving to keep you "alert"

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

The high five prank from jackass but it triggers if you hit a rumble strip.

Reminder that Elon Musk promised that a Tesla would be able to drive from LA to New York completely autonomously by 2017.

Half a decade later and this is how far Tesla has progressed on that front.

They can't even drive out of a parking lot successfully

I assume like the "recall" in China, its just an OTA update? The article isn't really clear on this

[–] CrushKillDestroySwag@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think it was just an over the air update, based on this line:

The update was to be sent to certain affected vehicles on Tuesday, with the rest getting it later.

"Later" is wonderfully specific. We need better language for this stuff though - "recall" makes me think of people bringing their vehicles back to the dealership en masse.

Yeah, I was let down on the China "recall", real sicko-wistful feel

[–] oregoncom@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's ok. One of these days one of their OTA updates will brick the cars. It's not a matter of if, but of when.

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

If a NHTSA recall can be fixed with a software update that's all it means

[–] Elon_Musk@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Yea. Nearly all Tesla recalls are just OTA updates

[–] ElGosso@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

I'm sure there's some legal obligation to issue a formal recall somehow

[–] Cummunism@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

"gosh dang govt overreach!" - Elon, probably

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

A pathetic excuse for a society when unproven and unregulated technology can just be added to deadly machines and sold to anyone with money

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

But muh free markets tho
