I've seen that episode. Brian dates a trans woman, finds out she is trans, then vomits for like 3 minutes straight. Then the family makes fun of him for it. It was awful

yeah this is why i hate family guy memes. and why the 4chan post is mystifying

Apparently one of the writers/producers on that episode had a father that transitioned, which makes it extra strange/sad.

Anyway, I think there's a later episode which isn't as bad (low bar), which is what the dad in this scenario could be talking about. I don't remember it that well, but at the time I remember sighing at the start of the episode and then by the end perhaps being a little charitable in interpreting the moral of the episode as 'gender dysphoria is serious and a good solution is supportive transition.'

EDIT: haven't seen the episode in a long long time so who knows

huh. good for them i guess? still hope whoever was involved in that first episode dies in a fire

Cishet middle aged men have some of the strangest brains.

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

if it works it works, but i feel so bad for anon having to deal with this

[–] Phish@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

At this point I'm not even sure what a normal brain looks like

I think mine is more of a linguini.

Uncritical support to Cromalin for bringing me all the best /tttt/ memes to my feed, that I otherwise would not have because I cannot stand to browse the board anymore.

rat-salute

i have a bunch that are a little too nsfw for me to feel good posting them here, but there's some that i will be posting at some point in the future!

i knew that, i just wasn't 100% sure how that applied here

[–] What_Religion_R_They@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

it's a little known fact but Mr. Latter Day himself watched Family Guy religiously

[–] What_Religion_R_They@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

actually everything he watched, he watched religiously

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not Cain, Lamanites. And they didn't change their minds on that overall

[–] voight@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They just want the optics, huh? Makes sense

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

After civil rights laws passed, they weren't allowed to uphold not allowing people of color into the church. Once that happened, Mormons had to backstep. However, anybody who knows the Book of Mormon will tell you that there is no alternate reading that makes them not racist. Mark of Cain has some leeway, Bible never specifies too much on that. Book of Mormon is very specific

[–] GhostSpider@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Can't believe the church gone woke smh.

Is this the future liberals want?

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

i am a liberal, like all other posters on this fine forum, and i say absolutely fucking not

I always found it weird that South Park amended their stance of trans people before Family Guy (assuming they ever do). Don't get me wrong the show is still awful fucking garbage but I guess whatever mild credit it's due.

[–] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This sounds more like some bizarre treat-brained cope from a transphobe who wished he still had a son(?).

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

im going to trust anon when they say their dad was chill with it, but it wouldn't surprise me if you were right

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

Family guy fans always respond to criticisms of the show with, "Family guy makes fun of everyone you f-slur"

[–] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

There's a surprising amount of people stumbling ass-backwards into cool positions

[–] Phish@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago

My mind is about 90% a mix of Simpsons and Sopranos references so I can't really talk shit. I don't use them as a guide for decision making or anything though.

[–] Dickey_Butts@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Surely this has never been more relevant.
