I don't disagree that a lot of our food is terribly underpriced at the supplier end, and that shows in quality of the food and consumption habits. E.g. most meat. That said, this is distinct from the money made by the grocers who have a nice oligopoly going where they can set any prices they want, unless that causes a major scandal. This price setting power definitely contributes to the poverty problem, all else being equal, even if it might not be the biggest driver.
