we need to support ukraine because if russia isn't stopped from its war of territorial expansion then it will only be emboldened to invade other countries

I saw the date at the bottom of the image and thought it was a month old, then remembered our backward-ass date convention in the US. Cant wait til tomorrow when it is 12-12-2023 no matter what.

The entire country could empty out and they'll invade to get the secret invisible Hesbollah members.

One of my older comrades was a doctor in the Israel-Lebanon war in 1987, he is visibly outraged and shocked by everything he saw Israel do in it.

I don't think the US is going to let Israel to a ground invasion of Lebanon. They are spooked by the reaction to the genocide in Gaza and itching for an opportunity to "reign Israel in". They will not do it in Palestine because they are fundamentally evil and support the genocide there, but Lebanon is a different matter. Netanyahu is so incredibly fucked since he will be held responsible for letting October 7 happen once there is not an acute state of emergency that he is to some extent forgetting that Israel is a US client state. That is a personal Netanyahu problem though, and Israel will send him to jail forever before disobeying the actual wishes of the US, servant nation that they are.

If they even try this, the US will step in as the "sensible" mediator and put a stop to it immediately.

I totally disagree with this analysis. Time will tell which of us is right.

Yea on the other hand, I feel like throwing Hezbollah onto the same side as Palestine against Israel will make for a great divide and conquer amongst the more liberal Palestine supporters in the US

[–] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

I think that the US is going to really really want Israel to not do a ground invasion of Lebanon but also that the time of the US "letting" and "not letting" its proxies do things is a distant memory.

[–] the_kid@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

they also know the IOF is incompetent and would be thoroughly embarrassed by Hezbollah, just like they were in '06. and now 17 years later, Hezbollah is 100x stronger.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

I hope so, but the US has been full of nasty surprises lately

Do it, cowards!

[–] usernamesaredifficul@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

That's among everything else just a really bad idea. They do remember that they lost last time

[–] InternetLefty@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Why are they trying to force a move now? Probably concerned about a long delayed conflict draining their personell and materiel so they want to force Hezbollah into the conflict early while they have the capacity to deal with them?
