Every chud in my life is obsessed with someone breaking into their house and the situation being resolved with the discharge of a firearm. And these are people living in low crime areas out in the suburbs, with no pedestrians. It's frustrating to talk with these people since their whole worldview is a racist panic over some imagined brown interloper invading their white fortresses.

One of my coworkers tells me he always pulls out his Glock to check the corners when he comes home in the evening. Another has a CCTV system and an AR15 by his bed. I personally don't own a gun anymore because I don't trust myself with one, and chuds will ask me what I'll do if some mentally unwell person high on amphetamines decided to enter my apartment. I guess I'd leave or call an ambulance? It seems so unlikely of a scenario that even if I had a firearm I probably wouldn't use it right, or even register this person as a threat quickly enough to do a John Wick style takedown.

How many home invasions are actually stopped this way? Do chuds all think they're Robocop?

These people are a mix of toxic masculinity and absolutely childish fear and paranoia.

They are, as you say, obsessed to the point of it being a problem that they need professional help with.

Larpy "good gun with gun"white man fantasy

Yeah, and it's starting to get a little unnerving... In the beginning I could appreciate the hobby of collecting, building, and shooting guns. In fact I was intrigued myself at one point and thought about buying some for the sake of the hobby. However, for them it has since devolved and their apartment is now pretty much filled with weapons. Luckily they are a little more left leaning with their socioeconomical and political views, but ever since they got a permit to carry I've noticed more and more that they come off like they are yearning for a reason to use them.

Yeah I don't know what to say to these folks other than they're deranged. Having a pistol or rifle for personal protection is sensible. Owning more than 5 rifles is a problem unless you're planning on being a 21st century John Brown.

At a certain point it does feel like people want a fight to happen

They're preparing for the second civil war.

They're not very good at it because if they're really concerned about a civil war they'd be securing evacuation routes, not worrying about an imaginary cocaine addict bursting through their window in the night

People with lots of guns and supplies in their basement would be the first to get swarmed and killed in an apocalyptic event. Easy loot.

I am, but I have generalized anxiety disorder and I am obsessed with literally anything bad that could happen. I kinda assume a lot of that paranoia is underdiagnosed anxiety.

A lot of people develop little totems to manage anxiety right? Like worry stones or fidget spinners. Seems like the paranoid types need to feel a gun on their person to feel normal.
