The worst thing about wanting to know everything is that the more you know, you more start to comprehend that you actually know nothing.

[–] SeducingCamel@lemm.ee 34 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Or the more you know the worse and worse the world seems and your only gift for that knowledge is pain

[–] blanketswithsmallpox@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago (3 children)

The funny part about that is you eventually come back around.

The vast majority of humanity is doing their part. Most in small ways and few in ways that change the world every day.

Humanity will always prevail with the general masses benefiting no matter how many scummy people try to exploit us, the earth, and eventually other solar bodies.

Capitalism is the mid point between Feudalism and Socialism.

[–] Coasting0942@reddthat.com 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Feudalism: God picks the king. Or the king picks the king.

Socialism: There are no kings, but the central committee, led by the director, who picks the next director.

Capitalism: spin now and you might be lucky enough to be a king, anybody could be the king! terms and conditions apply

[–] MindSkipperBro12@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

We have to be lucky every time. The scummy people only have to be lucky once.

Lucky about what? Not sending them to the guillotine whenever we feel like it?

Alternatively, we will go extinct having never left this solar body because of the long standing history of scummy people that would rather make profit now than address climate change

That’s been my problem.

When I was young I thought, “Man, I’m intelligent and I’m surrounded by idiots. I want to learn. They don’t.

Now, I’m just an idiot among idiots.

[–] profdc9@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Speak for yourself. I'm a SPECIAL, UNIQUE idiot among idiots.

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Nope. Just an ape like the rest of us. :p

[–] Kase@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Same, also that was very nicely said. You're an eloquent idiot in my book 👍

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

That's when you turn to memes.

[–] Demdaru@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Naaaah mate. I am currently stuck in the worst place. While still curious about shit, I know enough for the world to lose it's magic but not enough to see the even deeper magic within various phenomena. :(

[–] gandalf_der_12te@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago

the magic is that you exist at all, darling, and that you can observe it

"Everything" was a lot smaller back then.

[–] sirxdaemon@lemmy.ca 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's right, it goes in the... wait a minute, that's not the square hole.

Legit one of my favorite videos of all time. Which just further proves this shitpost is accurate.

Keep learning!

!opencourselectures@slrpnk.net

I'm in the middle of the "Introduction to Linguistics" course. Had my mind blown so many times already. Amazing stuff.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

That's a nice community, maybe we can spotlight it through out Community Spotlight feature. I'll suggest it!

In reality, I do a lot of learning for work (I'm a psychotherapist, there is always new stuff coming out and new certifications and trainings to take. We have to take a certain number of credits annually, and I always exceed that number). Add in keeping up with US and world politics and news... I'm spent. I need the maymays to zone out. Give me all the raccoons and opossums you've got!

[–] FrickAndMortar@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There’s just too much… between work, home life details, and trying to pay attention to the state of the world on 20 different fronts, I just don’t feel like I have the bandwidth to be like “gee, I’m going to pick up a new skill today!” I need that downtime to veg on the couch and look at memes, it’s way less exhausting.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago

That's a very good point. I feel less worse now.

[–] ButtCheekOnAStick@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Drugs and alcohol have taken their toll, mmmkay?

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

trapped in a pleasure cycle, doing nothing but scrolling and clicking for a moment of feeling good, while you numb yourself with whatever substance or behavior you prefer that can amplify that feeling, but that too becomes numb

you have to break that cycle if you want that childhood sense of wonder again.

[–] Franzia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 years ago

I didnt know about Pronghorns or Okapi until this morning. The bedrock and java edition of java are different but bedrock actually has a wonderful level of convenience to it that I feel jealous of. I also saved about a dozen memes and they're probably all about being gay or something idk.

[–] jopepa@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Experts in shitposting seem to understand everything so you’re getting there

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My only goal in life at this point is to reach expert shitposting status.

[–] jopepa@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Alexander wept for there were no more obscure animes to binge.

[–] registrert@lemmy.sambands.net 4 points 2 years ago

It's been years since I saw all the movies I ever wanted to see from the beginning of cinematography up until that point. And now they only make shit movies, what's a man to do but enjoy memes?

[–] idunnololz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I was to pursue happiness in life. Memes make me happy. I see nothing wrong with this.

You fool, I will now steal your memes and post them on Lemmy before you can.

[–] SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You’re a piece of shit. I’m going post them first to stop you
