The universe of Foundation is set to expand. Apple announced that the sci-fi streaming series, based on the classic stories by Isaac Asimov, will be coming back for a third season. There aren’t many details yet on what to expect — or when to expect it — but in a statement, showrunner David S. Goyer had this to say:

I’m thrilled Apple has given us the opportunity to continue chronicling Asimov’s pioneering galactic saga. This time, the stakes for Foundation and Empire are even higher as the Mule takes center stage, along with fan-favorites Bayta, Toran, Ebling, and Magnifico Giganticus.

Foundation first debuted in 2021 as perhaps the most ambitious series on Apple TV Plus; a lush, expansive epic with a cast including Lee Pace, Jared Harris, and Lou Llobell. It also got off to a very slow start as it tried to squeeze a huge amount of stage-setting into a single season — which is something that Goyer tried to rectify in season 2. “I just felt like this massive weight had been lifted from our shoulders,” he told me ahead of the season 2 premiere. “We were unburdened by all of this expositional pipe-laying.”

Ironic, the expositional pipe laying was decent while the second season was not.

If Demerzel killed Dawn in Season One and killed all three in Season Two then it stands to reason she'll kill 9 Dawn/Day/Dusks in Season Three. By Season Six she'll be killing 243. The entire series will just become a never-ending flow of killing Day/Dawn/Dusks only to decant and kill them again!
