Not a Bears fan but the fact of the matter is that they look somewhat competent following that meltdown in Kansas City against the Champs. They're .500 in their last 8 games & had winnable games against the Broncos and Lions & probably could have won the Raiders & Saints games with Fields. The defense looks pretty solid.

I'm probably sounding like someone who should be sent to an insane asylum typing this out but is there ANY remote chance they retain Fields and/or dare I say Eberflus next season & give both of them 1 more year, especially if they keep winning to fall out of contention on their own 1st round pick?

On 2nd thought, probably not Fields LOL.

this shit team can't even tank properly

funny enough this dumpster fire of a season should've had AT LEAST 3 more wins (broncos, vikes/saints, lions)

better coaching staff and QB would've been enough for those. talks about new QB being fucked cause the team sucks is actually overblown

Fields is not it and he'll never be. good for him as a person to have already come to terms that football is not the most important thing. he's a multimillionaire now too, will have a great life

[–] tree1234567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Luke needs to go.. Mooney had 2 rec for 6yds.. and out side of him and DJ Moore. No other recievers caught a ball.. DJ Moore up until the 50yd catch had 60 yards. Justin fields had the most rushing yards on the team. This offense is absolutely dogshit

[–] Insomniac_Cthulhu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If we still have questions on whether Fields is the QB we need, he isn't the QB we need.

[–] GoGoGoRL@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fire flus asap. Also I’m over fields, we won despite him not because of him

[–] AdministrativePeak0@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Putting up 12 points from all those turnovers is vintage bears

[–] Penguinkeith@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That 3 screen passes in a row was coaching malpractice fuck this staff

Who's ghosts wife did we fuck and how do we unfuck them to lift this curse.

My thoughts:

-defense has definitely become more consistent with the rush since 98 got here, which has greatly improved the secondary

-that was one of the worst game plans I’ve seen all year and still shows Luke Getsy coaching scared. We are 4-8 call your best plays, coach aggressively, Ijs.

-idk how 24 starts once 21 comes back, weekly I’m disappointed in 24 as a starter and feels he’s a change of pace back at best

-The tightens screens to 85? Come on Luke.

-Screens, all 88 of them are obvious when 19 is on the field. Hell we all know when 19 is on the field it’s a run or a screen

-6, 33, 32 couldnt ask for much more from you guys defensively

-Our QB position should be viewed by total yards, TD, turnovers(not just ints). If we can all agree to judge 1 on those metrics instead of comparing him to other qbs I think we would get a better gauge of the teams decision. Looking at today’s stats 276 total yards 0 tds 2 turnovers I would say it was a below average game.

-2 is a damn stud. If I ever see you out here in Baltimore I owe you a beer or whatever.

Thank god fields hit Moore for that okay cuz the one before Scott was open and he threw it away instead

Ugly game. I was really bored throughout.

Getsy is an idiot.

[–] Voltage1419@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I was thinking the same thing until I saw the replay and saw him being almost sacked by the time he would have thrown the ball. I don't think him throwing it away was entirely awful there

Absolutely predictable that many here were saying Fields “ain’t it” because he couldn’t get a game winning drive this year and now that he did it doesn’t matter.

It’s like people forgot that in his first two years as a starter Trubisky led the league in comebacks and we all know how much that didn’t matter.

[–] sounds_like_kong@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We learned nothing. Our defense is baller(we knew that). Cairo Santos is a baller(we knew that). Our receiving core is above average(we knew that and Moore is great). Jenkins is the lynchpin for our OL(we knew that). Fields is full of potential that we still don’t know will ever be actualized. Getsy is shit. Flus runs a good defense but probably shouldn’t be a HC(we knew that).

This win did nothing but hurt our stock for next year as sad as it is to say. If Fields had gone off for 300+ yards in the air and 50+ on the ground and 3 TDs we would have learned something. Had he not had a PR of 87 and thrown 2 picks we would have learned something.

Here we are, still not sure if Fields is worth keeping around and a meaningless win… god I hate myself for thinking this way but damn…

[–] Most-League-1649@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The defense was awesome.

Dexter is good. Kyler gordon is good.

Terrel Smith is good.

This game was a built a lot of trust in Ryan Poles for me. So many of the guys he added made big plays the last 2 weeks. Adding Sweat seemed to really tie the D together.

[–] LegacyLemur@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If he was in fact the one who picked Eberflus and Getsy he should be fired

[–] Practical-Courage812@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Getsy should be fired that offensive performance. Just look at the Steelers, the offense wasnt getting it done even as they were winning and they fired Matt Canada and finally had a decent game on offense. It wont save our season but it will help determine who on offense is worth keeping. And i think our running backs next year need to be Johnson and Foreman. Herbert just doesnt seem to be a feature back. But right now our offense is now the struggling unit and there is no excuse for them to only put up 12 points while the defense gets 4 turnovers.

[–] ccam0821@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That was a training wheels offense right there. Playcalling had 0 trust in Fields to throw the ball down the field. Embarrassing to watch

[–] Anthony-Meadow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I love Alex but I was never crazy about him doing the Gator chomp as a Bear

[–] ratfam1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

One thing I feel like is overlooked is that almost nothing is thrown over the middle of the field and it’s either fields is incapable of it or Getsy just refuses to use it.

[–] Repulsive_Gooner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Jim McMahon and Trent Dilfer have super bowl rings. The Bears cant give up on JF and look for the next Aaron Rogers or Tom Brady because they aren't in the draft next year

“It starts with me.”

  • Kevin O’Connell, Minnesota Vikings Head Coach.

Wow, accountability!

[–] LisleSwanson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I hope Luke Getsy doesn't get anything he wants for Christmas.

[–] SexEleven@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Are there any generational QBs coming the draft after this one? I don’t know shit about evaluating QB talent, but if the rumors are true that Caleb holds the ball long and has character issues, wouldn’t it make sense to get MHJ and others and then wait for a more solid franchise QB prospect?

Is there any way we can demote Eberflus to DC?

Maybe Dobbs just sucks, but Goff is definitely decent at least. 8 TOs in 2 games with a pretty mid passrushing Dline is good no matter how you slice it.

If he can call a whole game like this, especially against the Lions and Packers, idk I'd like him to keep calling the defense.

He's officially jumped Getsy in the must be fired list. Getsy gotta be fired on the plane for building an offense in the exact perfect way to utilize his QBs weaknesses and ignore his strengths.

If we brought back Tom Brady, Getsy would call designed runs and 4 Verts because he's Mr. Opposite.

I really hate to be “that guy”.

But rewatch the Fields fumble then read the rules written by the NFL

“It is a foul if a player lowers his head and makes forcible contact with his helmet against an opponent. Penalty: Loss of 15 yards. If the foul is by the defense, it is also an automatic first down”

Not sticking up for Fields at all. More so pointing out how bad the refs and some of these rules are.

At least the D looked stout, should be a good sign for next yr

[–] WzDson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Getsy and Flus taking turns out doing in each other with terribly scared plays calls. i cant wait till these 2 are fired after this year so we dont see their faces on the bears again.

[–] KBobBears@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If Fields and Flus are both elsewhere next year at least the Bears are an attractive spot for a new QB/HC.

Lots of cap space, draft capital, young guys coming up, DJ Moore is here.....could be a lot worse.

[–] CherryCokeSlurpee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anyone else think we should replace Mooney as #2 WR ? Really surprised at his lack of production this year. What's the deal? 1 TD in 11 games is weak. Fields and him just don't seem to gel. Gotta get Tonyan and St. Brown more involved, they're both 6'5" try doing SOMETHING with that Getsy you prick

[–] Anthony-Meadow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ruthie said we made history again with those stats, but Vikings, your history there, ouch

[–] Apathi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Have to give Flus credit for having the defense looking pretty solid these last two weeks though

Sans the last 3 minutes of the Detroit game.

[–] QuiGonGiveItToYa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Most coaches would elect to win their first divisional game sooner than 12 games into their second season, but I think we should see where Flus is going with this. Sometimes, you gotta dream big.

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t know what he’s saving it for but the first time Getsy calls a fake screen wheel route it’s going to be the easiest TD in league history.

[–] JulioXstatic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So has Eddie Jackson been the 2nd defensive captain after Edmunds?? I think that actually needs to go to Montez Sweat 110%

Man has instantly upgraded our defense and elevated the rest of the Dline with the impact he makes. He ups the pressure on the offense so damn much, and i think the other defensive line guys are benefitting from an actual elite player leading the way

[–] Anthony-Meadow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

15/16 in my picks & lost the tiebreaker, grrr. It’s just a $20 gift card, but I want to win just to win. Of course my wife reminds me it’s all bullshit anyway, & she’s right lol.

[–] Jorikstead@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We scored 12pts on 4 turnovers and won. BEAR DOWN.

[–] GlitteringAd1736@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We won a game of quick passes, check downs, and screens. Hahahahahaha.

[–] Draker-X@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I honestly question if Fields would have thrown that pass to Moore if there was a defender within 5 yards of DJ on any side.

[–] Ok-Brush-5933@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

OK after thinking about it for a minute, while I believe Fields could have helped win the Saints & 1st Vikings if he doesn't get knocked down, the fact of the matter is that in Year 3, he still hasn't developed into an elite passer & it seems that he likely never will. Seems that his career ceiling is being in the same tier as Baker Mayfield, serviceable but good enough to not be replaced.

But luckily with the Panthers extremely likely to have the worst record in the league, they will get their choice of Caleb or Maye in the draft. The question is though considering how the defense has played the last several weeks, do you think Eberflus has done enough to return next season especially if Chicago finishes with 6-7 wins like many predicted before the season?

[–] Mojorizen2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What’s with all the screen passes?
