Any idea why this movie isn’t in Dolby atmos on the store yet or if it will be?

People put too much stock in the Atmos name. All its is is object based tracking, but if you don't have a 5.2.2, 7.4.2, 9.4.2 system in your home it doesn't really matter. The majority of people I see worrying about Atmos have a soundbar which isn't going to give you full atmos. There are very few people in the world who could sit in a room as tell you the difference between DTS-MA, True-HD and DD Atmos.

Do you have a full atmos surround sound system in your home that is calibrated to take advantage of object based tracking?

This is perfect explanation! Thank you !

I’m one of the few - so long as Audissey qualifies as “calibrated”. I have 11 speakers in total - and I love a good Atmos sound track - but I love a good movie more.

Nolan doesn’t do atmos and Dolby vision. His beliefs about getting close to the imax version. All his movies are like this

If you want the best version of Oppenheimer, you are going to want the 4k Blu-ray.

Lossless audio is better than what steaming can provide, even vs Atmos (which this doesn’t have).

The other main factor for this movie in particular is the aspect ratios. Streaming only provides one aspect ratio, while this Blueray will switch aspect ratios to be more in line with the IMax filmed scenes.

I’m not here to shit on streaming vs 4k Blu-ray in general (which many will do), but Christopher Nolan movies are purposefully made better on the disc beyond the normal comparison would be.

Edit: this is assuming you have a good home theater setup to take advantage of what physical media offers
