Per title. We knew it was coming some day, tho perhaps not this soon. Will you be upset if you need ugly adapter to make your extensive + expensive watchband collection work?

I have two official bands and a bunch of knockoff sport loops because Apple gave up on making ones that look nice, so it's not a big deal to me if they change the connector. I'm not planning on upgrading from my Series 7 for a couple more years anyway, so it's not like I'd have to get rid of my bands in the first place.

I applaud your band strategy. Going forward, I’ll be more judicial in my purchases should new bands become necessary. Thanks!

As someone who does not have an extensive collection, I’m fine if they change it. I think most people just have one band.

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thanks! Never considered! You think most ppl have just one band?? That’s a whole other poll!!

I won’t care at all I just bought an ultra this year so unless it has a game changing health feature I won’t upgrade and I have spent less than 50 dollars total on bands other than the ones that came with the watches.

I applaud your band strategy. I hope to do same when switching becomes necessary

It would be foolish for them to do this. They’d be alienating their customers that buy these things.

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hear you. But they know we’ll get upset and then after venting online for weeks, that we’ll get over it!!

[–] Sammy_P8192@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hope we don’t get over it. Especially after they just released the 9-series and 2nd-Gen Ultra Watches.

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thanks. Good point! We’ll see soon enough!!

We’ve gone 10 years with the same connectivity for bands, I’m impressed it lasted that long! Not sure how they could improve the design tho.

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

True!! It makes sense to know it wouldn’t last forever. Still … :-)

But why? What band is expensive? The apple branded bands? And if you’re buying them from apple, why?

[–] roeib00t@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Considering how many bands I have I might be upset. Hopefully they’ll keep a/the Ultra in the lineup.

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hear you on the bands. Haven’t tried the Ultra. For now, just seems too bulky for me

[–] roeib00t@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That’s one of the things I like about the Ultra, but to each their own. I put on my Stainless Steel Series 7 a couple of times but it’s just not doing it anymore and I do dig it when I see others wear it ;-}

I hear you! Excited when I saw it in Apple Event + online. Went to local Apple Store. Ultra looks amazing but based on typical female-size wrist size, it’s just not one preferred by me. Not that it’s a guy-only watch. I have plenty female friends who love big watches. I like that there are options for us all to select from. Please enjoy it!!

Enshitification means yes, they’ll change it to make old stuff redundant.

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hilarious! Thank you!

I spent most of my time with the original AW using a 42mm band on a 38mm watch...So I ain't scared!

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Look at you! Great financial strategy. Sounds like the new features haven’t been enough to excite you yet!

[–] Stefanolti@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No i plan on keeping my s9 for a couple of years hopefully

[–] LoVaBee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I would be a bit upset. I have a pretty decent collection of only OEM bands.

[–] NomusaMagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thanks! Same here. I’ll make better decisions if/when new-connector bands drop!!
