This is an old forgotten gem of a sci fi series from the 90's. Created by a couple of the X-Files writers it was unfortunately cut before a second season could be made.

Personally it is one of my favourite series and as it's here on YouTube I'd recommend it to everyone.

Premise 'Set in the years 2063โ€“2064, the show focuses on the "Wildcards", members of the United States Marine Corps 58th Squadron of the Space Aviator Cavalry. They are stationed on the space carrier USS Saratoga, acting as both infantry and pilots of SA-43 Endo/Exo-Atmospheric Attack Jet ("Hammerhead") fighters, battling an invading force of extraterrestrials.'

I watched it when it first aired and liked it, and I have the DVD set and rewatched it a year or two ago. The CGI doesn't hold up well at all, but the practical stuff like the fighters on sets were good. You can tell they ran out of budget as they went, less space and more ground work.
