where do I find these "new people"
In the 21st century look for activity groups for a hobby you like. You may have to explore multiple groups in multiple activities.
For most people who aren't the elephant man or a supreme gentleman you'll find some passable connections.
Relationships are hard for everyone and take practice. It's complicated for them too. Learn empathy. Be aware of sexual frustration can make us crazy.
