Just a reminder to the people saying to get MHJ and figure out the qb situation later just how little an all time great, if not the greatest wide receiver ever, has on winning if you don't have a decent quarterback. As great as MHJ might be the return he offers isn't even a fraction to as much as if Maye or Caleb end up being great or even just good. The potential return on investment is just too much to pass up with a qb draft this highly touted.

If the Bears have a top 2 pick they aren't even going to consider MHJ, the only chance is if the Panthers drop to 3 or later where you consider him and then a qb later with our pick.

Exactly which future Bears Quarterback are you comparing to the illustrious 2008 Lions combination of Danute Culpeper in his second to final year starting in the NFL, Dan Orlovsky in his first year starting, and the immortal backup Jon Kitna? This was a year before Stafford was even drafted, and four years before Megatron had his first all-pro season. What a massive cherry picking exercise. I'm not even saying MHJ is the future, but this is some soggy logic.

"Even the worst roster in NFL history had one really good player the season they were historically bad" is a take with exactly zero value.

IF Caleb or Maye end up being great, the amount great #1 quarterbacks taken are far and few. Where as top tier WR who are a sure thing such as MJH come along every few years.

Reminder that Justin Fields will be the one to slay the dragons of the NFC North and bring multiple Super Bowl championships to the kingdom of Chicago.

All hail Lord Justin Fields First of his Name Slayer of the North.

Yeah, anything can happen. You're cherrypicking here. The current Bears are not as shitty as the 0-16 Lions. We're arguably a few players and a new coach away from being a playoff team. WR is one of the main positions we need to address in the draft. MHJ is a low risk, high reward pick. If he doesn't pan out, he's still likely a good wr2. The QBs are high risk. Sure there's a chance Williams is Andrew Luck, but there's also a chance he's Trubisky. If we take a shot and miss on the QB pick, we probably don't have Fields to fall back on. It would be catastrophic. MHJ is not only a safer pick, but we likely get him by trading down, which means we will have acquired more assets to help us out

We don’t need a QB we got one. Take MHJ no matter what and with the next pick. Get the best Oline. One that has played Center. I’m hoping they use their pick to trade down and aquire a decent edge rusher as well. MHJ, Oline, edge. We cooking.

What's that supposed to mean?

That didn't stop other teams from frequently hitting 30+ points on the Lions or stop every other issue the Lions had.

Not sure how 1 WR was going to stop a whole team from sucking.

Then they drafted Mathew Stafford the next year and still never won a playoff game. Maybe it takes more than a QB to be a good team?

[–] Thexnxword@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They went 2-14 after drafting Stafford.. the entire argument is stupid. No one player at any position is going transform this team. That being said fuck anyone who doesn't agree with me!

MHJ or bust!!!

It would pain me to see the Bears pass up on MHJ but I think they should go QB if they have a top 2 pick. That’s pending JF’s performance the rest of this year.

[–] BlaktimusPrime@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Let’s not forget EVERYTHING about the Lions was bad. Like REEEEEEAALLLLY BAD. If Fields can stay healthy and you line up with Foreman/Herbert in the back, Moore, MHJ, Kmet, and Mooney with a decent oline.

We are looking pretty good especially if we can find an offensive HC or a legit OC calling the plays.

Like that’s nasty.

Justin, from an OSU background, would feast with a WR like MHJ.

[–] Cvjpmg@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I dont like what ive seen from those two QBs, its not enough to say theyre an upgrade over fields. We 100% have seen improvement from him and as horrible as it would be to do to him i think we need upper level changes and to use those picks to get some help

[–] tomseymour12@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maye just got shelled by NC State after getting shelled by Clemson and people think he will come in here and dominate nfl defenses? Yeah I’ll take my chances on marvin

on the other end of the spectrum, trent dilfer won a super bowl. get mostly good football players and hope for the best
