Hey there, Wondering if anyone from Australia has used Apple TV to watch free to air. Can you comment what your experience has been like?

You can’t hook up an antenna but you can install ABC SBS 10 9 7 apps onto the apple box to watch. Has live feeds of their channel + on-demand. You might need to sign up for accounts for a few of them which is annoying.

If your television has an antenna input you could use the antenna and Apple TV in tandem so you can get your local channels w/out using any Internet data/speed on antenna, and streaming from Internet on the apple.

All the networks have apps that run on Apple TV.
They include live FTA streams plus on demand streams.

It’s not a tuner, but as long as you have the bandwidth and data allowance for it, streaming through the apps works fine 95% of the time. Just be prepared for a lot of repeats of the same ads, and very occasionally a live sports event will be missing.
