I was gifted an iPhone 15 Pro, delivered yesterday morning, by yesterday evening it was being sent back (Network couldn’t sort out my contract).

But during this time I got to play with it, I was upgrading for an iPhone 11 (normal, not pro) and was so excited for the huge difference, but I just didn’t feel it?!

Do you feel you’ve had a big difference from your previous upgrade? I took the same photo on my 11 and 15th and unless you zoomed in, you couldn’t really see the difference. The sound quality on the 15pro I could hear every breath when recording and I also felt like white colours were ‘too strong’ on the screen making videos/photos feel fake on the 15 pro compared to read on the 11. Are you noticing any of these? Did I just not get to play long enough?

Upgrading from 7 to 11 felt HUGE and I was expecting that again, especially with this being a Pro model.

I went from 11 Pro to 15 Pro. If anything, the experience has been a bit of a downer. The 15 is much bulkier, the cameras are large and it feels enormous in my pocket as the sides are no longer rounded. iOS is iOS so that’s exactly the same experience.

Sure I’ll get used to it, but it’s not the great upgrade I was hoping for.

Upgraded from I8 to I13-mini, the form factor is roughly the same, miss the 3D Touch, but overall, it feels good
-I used to Miss the square angles of the 4S on the 8, and it feels like a throwback, but not in bad terms.
- Photos are obviously better, though i think the large angle optic is a bit pixelated.
- Of course the smoother UX, thanks to a better chip.
- Face ID is great, even though back then i thought yeah nah fck this shit, but i kind of miss Touch ID too
- 2 days autonomy on the battery, speaks for itself

I went through a few phones this year. I got into some money after selling my nasa pc, I didn’t care at all about upgrading phones ever since the 6s but it got dated and well. You know… So I got the 7 and loved it but it didn’t no updates anymore, then the 8 and iPhone X. Also got dropped this year. I also got to play around with the 11 from my girlfriend but didn’t really feel the need to get one. So I got the 12 mini and hated the battery life but loved the form factor, still battery life is the deciding one so I ended up returning it to the store and got the 12. Now I really don’t feel the need to keep going but next month I’ll get the 13 pro max and stop there.

To start with, each gen had its own perks but I have to say that I didn’t feel anything better from the 6s to 8. They all look the same.

The X was a game changer. I loved the OLED display and well it was a lot faster than the 6s I had in the beginning of the year. There were some real improvements in that phone but for today standards it too was dated. The camera was the biggest improvement along with the processor . The battery wasn’t really good but the phone it self was a lot better.

The iPhone 11 I didn’t really get because of the LCD screen. Nice phone though, I know you can get oled panell for the 11 on Ali.

The 12 mini, what a mess of a phone… jeezus, it overheats, battery is crappier than the 6s even though it bigger but cameras are nice.

The 12, now that’s a New phone! The battery lasts all day, the A14 is blazing fast and can play any game out there maxed out at 60 or near 60fps. The cameras are the same as the mini so, nice cameras. I love the iPhone 5ish design. Bezels are very thin. The notch doesn’t really bother me.

Conclusion, from 6s to 8? Nothing, maybe when the 7 and 8 launched back then, they probably were a lot faster and reliable but now, they are the same phone. The X came with a big bump in speed and cameras, the new design. Great and solid phone. Jumping straight From X to the 12- YES a massive difference and a huge improvement! I’ll check the 13 pro out and stop there until the 17 or 18 is out if I don’t wait till the 20.

I went from 11 to 15 both regular. Other than the Dynamic Island, no noticeable difference for me, oh well still an upgrade

Went from iphone 6s to android, and felt like im out of jail! (Using poco f1 since 2019)

[–] anakinskyguy2020@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

iPhone SE (2nd gen) to the standard 14 was a bigger difference for me

[–] el_Vato-@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

iPhone 8+ to iPhone 15+. Yo what major difference. Adjusted to no haptic buttons was odd. Screen clarity, photos, speaker volumes. Just wow

[–] jus2743@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i went from 7 plus to 15 plus and it felt pretty different.

[–] ToTYly_AUSem@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

IPhones literally don't change much from phone to phone lol

[–] wegwerfkonto19@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just bought a 15pro today, come from an 11pro. I’ve used my wife’s 14pro. The camera is miles better especially at night. Screen is more fluid dynamic island is cool. But I haven’t used it in a day to day setting so it’ll be interesting to see. I was happy with my 11pro apart from battery and it getting a touch laggy. We shall see.

[–] palexp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

yeah i was all geared up to swap out my iphone 12 with a 15 Pro before the release but now i think i might just take a stab at replacing the battery in my 12

[–] rites0fpassage@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Phones have peaked. It’s not worth it anymore unless your phone stops working 🤷🏽‍♂️

Meh

[–] pickledradish123@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I went from SE the first one to 13 and the difference insane

[–] mehdotdotdotdot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

11 pro to 15 pro and sure, some things are a tiny bit nicer, not worth the cost though imo

[–] tederian@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I would have kept it and used in on wi-fi networks until I could find another accommodating cellular network.

[–] ImpressiveTeaching42@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm not an iPhone user but whenever I upgrade phones with Google Pixel it always feels like a huge change, that's probably because of the camera and different AI features that are added. But, I think it's because Google recently learned how to be like everyone else. I miss the imprint fingerprint scanner :( it never missed

[–] joaocadide@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The “white colours too strong” sounds like HDR. You can disable it in the settings - I also don’t like that

[–] ShrimpRampage@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean there is a reason why it’s called Pro. Part of it is that the specs are beefed up, and part of it is that the features are more relevant to specific professional workflows.

Camera captures wider dynamic range. Irrelevant to 8 bit JPG, relevant to 12 bit RAW. irrelevant to h265 long GOP, relevant to ProRes.

I think normal users are getting an excellent deal from regular iPhone. I would only consider Pro if I wanted to take advantage of Pro workflow.

You’ve gotta wait a good 5 generations these days. Still love my 13 pro

[–] Majestic_Juggernaut5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Went from 7 to 14 Pro Max. Just imagine.

[–] BackgroundSmile8563@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I went from a 12 mini to 15 pro max. Massive improvement in camera, battery, speed, and size. Really enjoying it so far.

[–] user384920484820@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ungrateful person you are.

[–] invineysar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I had it for 10 days

[–] biancacookie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i upgraded from a xs max to a 15 pro max and i agree. the changes didn’t feel very noticeable. i’ve been keeping up with all the upgrades and i was expecting to feel a massive difference :(

[–] lzandman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I went from an 11 Pro to a 15 Pro and I share your feeling that it isn't that big of an upgrade. The photos, especially in low light, aren't that much better. In fact, I even think my 15 Pro camera has a blur problem. A lot of photos are blurry, less sharp than photos taken on my 11 Pro. There are others that report similar issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/16z7fmb/brand_new_iphone_15_pro_blurry_camera/

Video does look better. But recording 30 fps portrait video still shows some stuttering some times.

[–] Bunniesrkewl@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m still rocking an 11PM, im waiting for them to get rid of the dynamic island. 120hz + 48MP camera + type c are pretty good changes for sure though.

[–] tofutophu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Went from 12 Pro Max to the 15 Pro and I’m loving it. I forgot how much I prefer the smaller phone.

[–] TheToothDoctorSN@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just got the 15 pro today (upgraded from the 11). To be honest…I don’t feel much of a difference.

I can tell the screen is more crisp, faster and the other differences. But the difference just isn’t enough for me to really care. It’s probably because I’m just a casual user maybe? Or because I’m getting older. 🥲

[–] ILostMyMainAccounts@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Photos under good lighting have been more or less the same for 5 years on all brands, so by only looking at photos it's not gonna be a VERY noticeable upgrade

I had an iPhone 13, before I got a 15. And honestly… I think the camera on my 13 was better than my 15! (These were the regular iPhone, not pro/pm.) but, then I was like: “Okay… maybe I just need the 15 pro max.” So then after a couple of days, I went back to the Apple store and asked to return my iPhone 15, and just pay some extra cash for the 15 pro max. So I did! Then I set it all up, played around with it… found the action button completely useless. I thought maybe it would be something useful or fun, but it’s not really.. and the cameras? Could be better honestly. For me, I find them not very good.. It goes fuzzy?? I guess? I don’t know.. I tried out 5x zoom.. looked okay. Put my hand in front of it, and then suddenly it just looked like crap. I don’t know if it’s an issue with the 15 pro max.. but my iPhone 13 was clearer, and better! When I take videos.. they’re often grainy, and dark. Camera quality is significantly worse. Personally. I regret this decision.

[–] TheArcher971@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I went from a 6s to a 12 Pro Max and it felt spectacular. I just got the 15 Plus and it is basically the same phone. Night mode photos are definitely different and the Dynamic Island is cool but other than I don’t see a significant change from the 12 Pro Max to the 15 Plus (I upgraded to the green 15 Plus bc it’s my favorite color, I was going to wait till next year but I couldn’t resist).

[–] Geene_Creemers@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When I went from 1 to 4 big difference. 4 to 6 another big difference. 6 to X yet another huge difference..but X to my current 13 pro was not a huge difference but certainly noticeable performance wise.
