Since 1897 the city of Bergen was served like by an electric tram system. Sadly, like in so many cities, it was shut down in 1965.

Since then however the city has started to dig up and restore the tracks, and slowly the historic electric tramway has come back in service. There are plans to extend the current line to the city center.

@anji Looks lovely. We have a bunch of these old trams in Bucharest too, but some of them are not really maintained (specially the newer models).

Not to mention Constanța, Brașov and Botoșani removed their tram systems in favor of buses (Constanța even removed trolleybuses as well) - then scrapped the vehicles.

Lots of cities around the world have got rid of their tram systems in favour of private cars and are only now starting to realise that was a very bad idea for the most part.

I'm fine with historic tramways - but is it going to be fit for purpose if people start using it like a modern metro?
