Most people seem to be giving their ranks on MVP voting citing only QBs. It’s hard to imagine that just a title over 10 years ago Brees’ 46 TDs wasn’t enough to win MVP.

I’m curious as to who the real MVP candidates are. QB production is down so I’m really gearing towards awarding it to a defensive player like Myles Garrett. I know some people have also cited CMC and Hill.

Turf monster.

[–] StumptownRetro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett. And I don’t think it’s even close.

[–] matmortel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's ridiculous how a non qb has to literally have record breaking numbers to be named mvp. We all know that qb is THE position, but players in other positions are more valuable to their team then their respective qbs.

[–] S0mnariumx@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm biased but Myles Garrett

[–] gzila88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett.

Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts

At this point a qb should never win MVP. It should be its own award. QB MVP. how does anyone else in the league stand a chance to get MVP when there is one person on the field that touches the ball every play and decides where the ball goes? Its dumb.

[–] bubapl@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i think it should be one of tyreek, cmc, aj brown, myles garrett, etc. but it's gonna end up being jalen hurts with 3800 yards 30 tds and 13 ints or some shit like that

[–] Astrid_Nebula@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Eagles offensive line or Ben Johnson.

[–] poolords@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

none of this was an issue until hurts became the betting favorite

[–] RudePCsb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Teent Williams. OL never very respect but you see our offense without him. He destroys the run game and pass game because of how dominant he is. This QB award is a joke now.

[–] tjc815@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A qb should still win mvp.

[–] SomalianRoadBuilder@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Correct that a QB shouldn’t win, but if Kupp and Derrick Henry didn’t win in recent years I don’t think it’s a realistic possibility for any non-QB to win it anymore. Those guys had the best WR and RB seasons ever and still didn’t win.

[–] Radon_Rodan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why shouldnt a QB win MVP? Dont get me wrong, the award is all but a QB-only award, which kind of makes sense given that QB is the most important position, but there are some years when there are truly dominate defensive players and/or non-QB offensive players that dont get a fair shot. So I have to ask, why this year over any other?

I dont think theres really been any one player so far this season that has been so outstanding that they threaten to buck the trend. What non-QB so far this season has played so outstanding that they have proven themselves more valuable than Hurts, Mahomes, Goff, Stroud, etc? or do you just think anyone playing QB should be disqualified because the award is inherently biased towards the QB position?

I think the NFL should do like baseball. Have an award for the best QB, similar to the Cy Young for the best pitcher, and then have a separate award for an MVP. Every few years one guy may win both, but having a QB always win the MVP overlooks great years by TEs, RBs receivers and defensive players.

[–] Drikkink@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not gonna lie and I say this as a fan of the team with the current MVP favorite QB (he should not be)... Stroud should win MVP.

[–] ham_sandwedge@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The entire Cleveland browns offensive line. Change my mind.

[–] iDontSow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ultimately, it seems highly likely to me that removing a player like Tua or Purdy would have a much more drastically negative impact than losing CMC or Hill. Obviously losing any of those guys is not ideal, but that’s why it’s a QB award.

[–] Ronaldoooope@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Obviously I’m biased, but I think Ceedee lamb makes a case.

[–] raiderjaypussy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Irregardless of QB play it flat out should be myles Garrett. He has straight up man handled and one man won multiple games for his team this year. His production so far has been unmatched by any other player simple as.

[–] Stewartw642@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The MVP this year is going to be Jalen Hurts. He's the quarterback for the team with the best record. It's as simple as that.

[–] Rhodie114@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm definitely biased, but with all the talk about how the tush push is an automatic play for Philly, Jason Kelce should at least be part of the conversation.

[–] Alternative-Ad-8844@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bland if he breaks the infection for touchdown record

[–] HarlanCedeno@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'd love to see a defensive player win it, but the bar has been set ridiculously high. LT was the last one to do it almost 40 years ago and I don't see any current player having a better season than 2014 JJ Watt.

[–] menusettingsgeneral@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s week 12 lmao a QB could definitely earn it still.

[–] anti_zero@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Non-QB? Lamar Jackson

[–] Hksbdb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Creed Humphrey

[–] YankeeTankieTrash@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Agree - there should be separate MVQB and MVP categories.

[–] Theostru@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Jalen or AJ I'm fine with either

[–] Hcdx@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett

[–] l5555l@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

QB production being down means the best QB's are even more valuable than normal.

[–] buttfungusboy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sewell or Saint Brown, yes I'm bias

[–] dooneandrew@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tyreek, and it's not even close

[–] monkeyhold99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s either Hill or CMC

[–] DegreeNarrow5936@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Daron bland

[–] ResidentWeeevil@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Purdy should obviously be in the lead for the MVP race at this time

[–] SpaghettiEddy009@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett isn’t even the best defensive player at outside linebacker, not even mentioning defensive overall, let alone mvp.

Hard to argue against CMC for non QB.

[–] 2manyChieffs@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
