Most people seem to be giving their ranks on MVP voting citing only QBs. It’s hard to imagine that just a title over 10 years ago Brees’ 46 TDs wasn’t enough to win MVP.

I’m curious as to who the real MVP candidates are. QB production is down so I’m really gearing towards awarding it to a defensive player like Myles Garrett. I know some people have also cited CMC and Hill.

My pick is for Larry Bird. That guy can ball.

[–] wcarl210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hurts is gonna win. So it doesn’t even matter

[–] Unfair-Worker929@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Too often this award doesn’t feel like most total value but more like most popular. If we talked about players who are invaluable, they maybe all wouldn’t have the most eye shattering stats but their value is in literally just their on field presence.

Division rivalry aside, Myles Garrett

[–] Efficient_Delivery47@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett

Jaylen Warren

Matt Canada (regardless of getting fired, defensive guru for at least half the season. Should count)

Josh Dobbs in our hearts and minds

[–] loplopplop@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'd have Myles Garrett or Tyreke Hill.

[–] Soren_Camus1905@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AJ Brown, CMC, or Myles Garrett

[–] Whatever801@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It should be a non-qb this season actually. None of them are really setting the world on fire. What about Miles Garrett?

I disagree. My argument: MVPurdy.

Add a “Most Outstanding Player Award”, or better yet go the NHL route and have an award for each position group named after a HOF player (The Unitas, The Butkus, etc)

Really wish they’d put more emphasis on a QB only award and allow the MVP to truly be that… the most valuable player, not the best QB award. I would be shocked if a non-QB ever wins the MVP again with how the NFL views the game as a whole.

[–] bigpandas@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Travis Kelce's mom is th' real MVP

[–] Barqck@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett

[–] Das_Man@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett for me hands down.

[–] Nice__Spice@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You know they’ll give it to a Qb and create the narrative for it.

[–] CremeCaramel_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Despite QBs mattering less this season, I would say so far the most valuable player single handedly elevating their team this year is without a doubt CJ Stroud lol.

Non QB is probably Garrett for me too.

[–] yrulaughing@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tyreek deserves it probably

If purdy, tua, or stroud keeps up the pace they’re currently on then one of them will win the mvp. I find it weird if tyreek wins the mvp when kupp didn’t a few years ago.

We still have like 7 weeks to go lol. Any of the top QBs can absolutely run away with it still.

Throwing a nod to AJ Brown

It absolutely won't happen. But he entered God mode for a while there

[–] SupJamal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett

[–] TinaKedamina@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AJ Brown should be in the conversation.

[–] ssj_ali@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

For voting purposes Lamar Jackson is an RB

[–] nanananabatman88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Honestly a QB absolutely should win it this year. And it should be Stroud. Texans wouldn't have shit for wins if he wasn't under center.

[–] joaovitorsb95@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Its probably between CMC, Hill and Garrett if it isn't a QB. Probably Hill.

Tyreek would be a top 2 name for sure.

[–] royalbluuuu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett, CJ Stroud, or Tyreek Hill

[–] aneyefulloffish@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Give it to a lineman, then I'll be impressed.

I think hurts will win. CMC should win.

[–] CBJfan03@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They should just give to a kicker again. For shits and giggles

[–] Goffimal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] sandcrawler2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Jason Kelce

[–] TEsMatter@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think it’ll end up being Lamar, but for non QB I’d go CMC, Garrett, or Tyreek in that order

If Garret or Parson finishes strong and get 20+ sacks they should get the award.

Otherwise Hill if 2000 yards reciever or CMC with 2000 yards from scrimmage and 20+ TDs.

This season has been really weak qb play but there porbably giving it to Hurts solely on the fact that his team is probably only finishing with 3 losses.

[–] chaosthirtyseven@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Brock Purdy

[–] Johnnycc@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Garrett if the Browns continue to win. Hill if he gets over 2000 (especially if he can do it in 16 games). CMC is a good choice.

[–] TStrong24@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A QB should win MVP this year

[–] HammyFresh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s gotta be Tyreek Hill. He’s playing out of his mind even by his own incredibly high standards.

[–] lraven17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Aaron Rodgers for similar reasons as to why some guy was contemplating voting Peyton Manning in 2011

Christian McCaffrey is on the cusp. If he balls out in in the next 3 games (Seattle, Philly, Seattle) like he did in the beginning he’ll be right there.

[–] johnmadden18@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If Bills make the playoffs with their brutal remaining schedule then Josh Allen should win MVP. Reddit always fixates on his interceptions and ignore everything else he brings to the table.
