My old iPhone XR has become incredibly slow and the battery is getting less than desirable. I am waiting to see if there is going to be any. Black Friday deals and maybe purchase a new phone. If that’s the case can I just buy a phone from Apple or wherever the deal is and stick the current SIM card in the new phone and expect it to work? Or do I have to buy it from AT&T?

You can buy a phone through apple or AT&T but there are no slim slots on newer phones so you’ll have to activate it with eSIM

Apple currently cannot activate the device for you either, they will simply sell you the phone and you go to an AT&T store to activate
