I might be a bit bitter and jaded but what exactly is this supposed to accomplish? Who gives a shit what Detroit thinks about something happening between two different governments on the other side of the planet?

Showing support and unity is always helpful and also together puts greater pressure on the federal government.

Given that Israel can't do anything without at least tacit American support (given in the form of weapons and aid), pressure on the US government accomplishes a lot.
