Hey all (sorry long story ahead),

Basically at my wits end here - just a shot in the dark to see if anyone has experienced something similar before I just buy a new ATV (I’ve googled everything at this point):

I have two Apple TV 4K’s (2021), a few weeks ago I woke up to BOTH of them stuck in boot loops. The lights would flash as it attempted to boot, then flash rapidly as it restarted. At no point would anything appear on the screen.

After 72 hours of them being non-responsive I took them into a local Apple Store. They hooked them up to screens there…and they worked! I brought them home…and they both worked!

Now 3 weeks later, one of them is boot looping again. This time it restarted, said it needed an iPhone recovery, which I initiated. It then entered into the same boot loop it was in several weeks ago. I’ve called Apple support and they had no clue, it’s no longer covered by Apple Care so the best they’d do for me is send me a new one for full price.

Just a quick list of what I’ve tried:

  • swapping HDMI cables
  • swapping HDMI ports
  • power cycling
  • forcing a restart (remote)
  • forcing a refresh rate change (remote)

This is probably one of the weirder tech things that’s ever happened to me - incredibly odd that they were initially boot looped at the same time, fixed by literally plugging them in and now boot one of them is boot looped again.

Any thoughts are definitely welcomed.
