He did everything he was supposed to do and had us with a 12 point lead with 4 mins left, and the defense went and gave up two tds. Also one of our wrs dropped a game clinching pass after he had fumbled earlier in the game. And he did it all without the thumb in his throwing hand being one 100%. There is nothing a Caleb Williams or Drake Maye could do to elevate this team with all the holes and terrible coaching. Poles will most likely take a QB just to cover his ass and give himself a few more years but it will set us back a few more years and maybe longer if they bust l.

3rd year starting QB who hasn’t won 10 games in 3 years has a decent game with very conservative play calling that they lost and Bears fans are like fuck it, he’s the guy.

[–] Katy_Lies1975@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This team still has a lot of holes and I'd rather see them trade down if they get the first pick, get another 1st rounder for '25 and take the best available receiver with their own pick and a defensive stud with the received 1st round pick for '24. Obviously a new coaching staff as well.

Screw it, I'm in. 4 more years of Fields, we could be the super Lions with all those high draft picks in 2028

[–] rocketcrotch@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

As a steelers fan just lurking by -- I would gladly take Justin Fields off of your hands...

:(

I think we know what a NC QB who wore #10 can do. And we finally have a great kicker. That’s been my take away. We settled for too many FGs. We didn’t get enough points off of turnovers. But I really wanted to break my phone after Hutchinson’s strip sack of Fields and Wright kicking the ball out of the end zone for a safety. I’m tired of our OC and HC getting conservative because we have a Pro Bowl kicker. Clearly, the Lions are an offensive powerhouse when you just sit in a soft zone. Heck, every team except the Panthers can destroy our zone. I think drafting a rookie QB just allows the next coaching staff to craft a narrative that we have our guy. Nobody has mentioned that we could very well trade a pick for a veteran QB. Trading for Goff worked out for Detroit.

Fields is a really good athlete. He makes some great throws occasionally and is always a threat to defenses with his legs. However, I don’t think he has enough of a pocket presence and awareness to be successful as The Bears QB1 anymore. Guys like Mahomes and Lamar really changed the modern day idea of what a quarterback has to be, and a mobile qb can be exciting, but Chicago needs more of a pocket passer. Rip and grip is what the Bears want to do at the moment and Fields doesn’t fit that mold.

[–] FattyLumps@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He literally scored one touchdown my dude.

[–] ItsEaster@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Let’s leave it to the professional scouts. I’m thinking they might have a better idea then the 50 plus posts about this per week here.

[–] Leading_Macaron2929@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He's supposed to always fail on last minute drives, always turn the ball over?

[–] bearshawksfan826@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why didn't he block Hutchinson himself before throwing a touchdown? Is he stupid?

[–] TDiddlyD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Bro, some of you guys are actually mindmelted. You’re going to turn down the reigning Heisman winner, back to back 1OA projected player this year and would have been last year too for a soon to be year 4 bust that can’t pass for 200 yards and has like negative confidence with coaches? That would be such a legendary fuckup the only team I could see doing it would be the Bears.

[–] Sabiancym@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Can't pass for 200 yards? He had a combined 8 TDs, 600+ yards in his two games before his injury, and had over 100 rushing yards yesterday on top of his passing.

Hurts and Mahomes just threw for 150 and 177 respectively....without the 100+ rush yards.

It's astonishing the depths you people will go to criticize. Not only flat out ignoring massive amounts of context, but being willing to flat out lie. Claiming he can't throw for 200 despite him averaging 300 in two out of his last three full games. Not to mention pretending that rushing yards somehow don't count.

[–] TDiddlyD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The larger you increase his sample size the worse it looks.

[–] UrlacherButkus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I wouldn’t call it asinine fair or not it might be best for both to move on what I think would be asinine is keeping this coaching staff and draft h a new qb

[–] SD40couple@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He played ok, but he left a ton of points on the field. Now, is that him or Getsy well that you can debate.

The defense tanked the last 4 minutes but the offense left at least 10-12 on the field.

[–] ManBearPig0392@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I honestly want to burn the front office down and rebuild THAT. I'm fine with keeping Poles but it's pretty obvious the issues start with the coaches

[–] Mysterious-Current64@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is obvious to anyone who knows ball now - the line has been drawn

[–] Present_Ad_1576@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We should go into next year with Fields and Tyson. They’re both under contract. F it. Bring new coaching. Fields isn’t the franchise but both of them can manage into 2025

[–] xtow16@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

lmao what did Fields show you yesterday that was any different than what he's shown in the last 2.5 years? He's great at running the ball and can consistently get you 150-200 passing yards, but when it's crunch time he makes boneheaded plays and turns the ball over. We've seen this movie before

[–] samurai5625@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is certainly a take..

[–] BranAllBrans@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

170 yards passing not good enough

[–] SilkyJohnson72@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

One game did it for you after numerous Justin bad games huh? Short memory you have.

[–] fascha3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Real simple. Trade back again to get a draft hall to continue to fill the holes … but still DRAFT another QB. This years class is deep and the better QBs are NOT the two everyone are talking about. You can get a solid prospect to have at camp with Fields and Bagent. Have to continue bringing in talent until you have that franchise QB.

[–] tomseymour12@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People expect Caleb or maye to just bypass everything wrong about this entire organization like they will transcend the owners, coaches, lack of development, playcalling, etc

[–] Adnonymus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sooo you watched the MNF game ending? When you have to pay a QB a mega contract, you lose the ability to keep star skill players, who can catch balls in crucial situations, because you can’t afford them while also having to spend on defense. You draft Caleb Williams with the #1 pick to reset the rookie contract, and just load up at the skill positions and defense with the cap space.

[–] 1sttimedogowner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The WR is catching waaayyyy too much heat. He should have never been put in that position. Sure, he could have been the hero, but any number of coaching decisions could have iced that game.

[–] Saddamjong@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So we fire Fluss and Fields will be onto his 3rd HC? Keep dreaming. New staff is going to want their own QB. Fields was so amazing throwing for 169 yards and 1 TD!

[–] No-Author-508@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

2 touchdowns on 4 turnovers. We need a new QB.

[–] Jorikstead@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I honestly can’t believe people want to keep Fields for another year. We are actually never going to be good.

[–] Mack_that_ass@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Were gonna suck with whatever QB we have anyways. There is no end to this shit show im just here for infinite pain

[–] m0chab34r@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There is nothing a Caleb Williams or Drake Maye could do to elevate this team with all the holes and terrible coaching.

Okay, but that's not the scenario being presented, right? The question is actually whether Caleb Williams or Drake Maye could elevate this team with a new coaching staff and additional resources, including another top-10 pick at a position of need.

[–] IntelligentFilth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I can’t believe that so many people are still hung up on whether Fields is “the guy” or not. Simple answer is that he is not. In a perfect world, I would trade him for more draft capital, draft Bo Nix in the first round, and sign Kirk Cousins to a cheap one or two year contract because he’s old and currently on the gimp. You then have a guy who can get wins while Nix gets broken into the NFL, eventually have a stud backup, and a safety valve in Cousins if Nix ends up being a wash. The remaining draft picks to be used on defense and to solidify the O line. It’s either that or use up a ton of cap space on a proven free agent QB/trade (see how that went for NYJ and CLE). Time to part ways with Fields. He has had more than enough time to prove he’s a winner or not. We’ve been “rebuilding” for decades, and 2024 is an excellent draft class for QBs.

I remember when they said Cade McNown was a team elevator and took Kramers spot, just to shit the bed. So much so he only lasted two years
