Fields is going to have to play a lot worse to convince me to take a QB over Marvin Harrison Jr.

[–] ChelskiS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Screw the ´the Bears are 10 players away from being 10 players away´ quote

This team is a 2nd good pass rusher, center and a WR away from being a playoff locked team.

Get rid of Eddie and Whitehair, their contracts are not worth the return & use it to pay a pass rusher.. look at the difference Sweat makes and what having a single decent pass rusher does for your team. Need a 2nd and the defence is set. We have nice pieces at DT and in the secondary

Offence also isnt missing much. Need consistency at the center position and a 2nd weapon next to DJ Moore.

Replace this terrible coaching staff and I dont see how we cant contend in this TERRIBLE NFC. I know we are having a rough year, but look at the state of the entire NFC. There are 2 elite teams in the 49ers and Eagles, 2 good teams in the Lions and Cowboys. Any other team isnt in that much of a better state than we are going forward

[–] Puzzleheaded-Ear9487@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is exactly my feel. I look at a lot of teams who win and I don’t see them have much better talent we have.

I sometimes tune in on the after show and Alex Brown always talks about the players not being good enough. I’m like, have you seen who the Vikings are playing with?

[–] bred_binge@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

100% and glad people are noticing. Outside of the coach hires Poles is building a good team. And shock, sometimes when you build through the draft it takes young players lots of game time to develop.

[–] OpneFall@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

They are more than one pass rusher away. Come on. They are dead last in basically every pressure stat and adding Sweat might push them up to bottom 5 at best.

WR opens another hole next year because Mooney will probably be gone.

The secondary blows.

QB is still a question mark until he can put together at least one comeback drive. Just one.

Yes the coaching staff is terrible but I definitely remember the "replacing nagy is worth 3 wins alone" argument that busted too.

Outsider pretty much who watched the game.

You guys aren't really that far from having a good team the core is here just need to get a new coach and have that coach work with the potential QB you should hopefully land on in the draft.

[–] B_Bibbles@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Eberflus every week "We're close!"

[–] Tedy_Duchamp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just need 1 maybe 2 more seasons!

[–] indecentbob@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Funny how fans of every other team can see we should be pursuing a QB in the draft, and yet our own fanbase has a civil war over sticking with Fields.

[–] Tedy_Duchamp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We will become more of a laughing stock than we already are if we pass on Williams or Maye and stick with Fields. I can already see the graphics on SNF now, just like the ones comparing Mitch to Mahomes and Watson

[–] Linkage006@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The blame falls squarely on the fans. Pumping the McCaskeys with cash year after year. They hire vanilla coaches, inexperienced GMs, and mediocre players. Fans fall for the off-season hype generated by the Bears propagandist. Who will spin a mediocre roster, if they dare say the team isn't good fans attack them personally on social media and Bears PR blackballs them from doing their job. The McCaskey's have been selling the 85 Bears for nearly 40 years and the rubes keep buying it.

[–] Puzzleheaded-Ear9487@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sorry man, did you watch the game? How exactly are you “fighting the power” here?

Listen, I just want to cheer for a football team not start a political movement and take down the man. We’ve all got enough “real” problems in our life then to turn this into some revolution I’ve got to deal with. Again, it’s entertainment. If you don’t like it watch something else but don’t blame us watching the game for the loss. I can’t stand this logic.

[–] Roofeeoh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yet again, we sit back and watch as Flus and Getsy fuck this team. Flus defense is so soft they all need their anal glands expressed. Then Flus goes on to say that the players need to execute better and "The disappointment was the finish". Well Flus, none of us got to finish, we all got to watch you blow your load all over our team though! Getsy, my god, we have the best athlete on the field in JF1 and we have the best WR on the field in DJ Moore, so when the game is on the line you call uninspired runs up the gut when EVERYONE in the bulinding/nation KNOW's that is what you're gonna do, TWICE!?!? Spread the defense a little? The one time it might have actually made sense to call one of your stupid fucking screens you don't? Is there anything, anything AT ALL happening in that head of yours?

They should both be arrested for rape because that's exactly what they did to my Bears yesterday.

[–] bluntybluntblunt@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Woke up early before work to see if eberfuck and getsy got fired. Haven’t seen anything might call off.

[–] YoungDan23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (7 children)

In Fields' last 4 games (3.5 considering the injury) he's got 1076 total yards, 9 TD and 3 TO. If you break that down to a per-game average, that's 270 YPG, 2 TD and 1 TO.

If you asked ANYBODY before the season started whether they'd take 270 and 2 TD per game they would be over the moon.

JJ won't get the elite money he wants.

JFmay have learned more watching Bagent play than what Getsy's teaching taught him.

Flus seems to be a players coach, but not able to coach a team to victory.

I think JF our QB next year and we have a new coaching staff again.

I'm confused as to why nobody has been fired yet.

[–] OccidoViper@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because they want to continue to tank. 100% believe that everyone is gone the second the final game ends

Speaking the obvious here that they won't get fired today, but this will be the game that got the entire coaching staff fired at the end of the season.

[–] ErectHippo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

To think during the game I let thoughts of keeping Eberflus would be okay creep into my head. This team is so soft and has no fight or aggression. Can't win football games that way. Teams take on the personality of their head coach and we keep hiring losers.

[–] yunglance24@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I bet 50$ on the lions when they were down 12 and came up 550$

This team is just losers Loser owners Loser coaches Loser players

There is no culture or understanding how to win. It only knows how to lose.

Between yesterday and the Denver game, is proof this team can not win as constructed.

The end is nigh.

[–] FratDaddy69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Flus is right about one thing, this team is close. Unfortunately for him the biggest thing holding them back is him and his staff.

[–] ThisIsWayyTooHard@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imagine waking up this morning to everyone being fired. The euphoria.

[–] joftheinternet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I’ll continue to go against the grain about this game. I’m seeing the Getsy play calling in the 4th getting a lot of crap, but I really think it was unwarranted. They dominated the time of possession. They were choking out the Lions. Why wouldn’t the Bears let their o-line and their offense do what they do best and just maul the Lions.
We can criticize the Bears for that 3 and out that ended in the Scott drop in hindsight, but every team in the NFL runs up the middle in that situation. And it would have been moot if Scott doesn’t slow up his route. The problem was execution, not play calling.

On the other side of the ball, however, we can totally tear into the 4th quarter defensive play calling. At the end of the day, the bears lost because they let the Lions get 2tds in, like, 2 minutes. They didn’t blitz Goff. And then some bad mistakes by players really just dropped the ball.

At the end of the day, The Bears were beating one of the best teams in the NFL, but good teams can overcome mistakes and bad teams can’t. The Bears couldn’t.

Playing for field goals by running on 3rd and long is not game winning football.

I have hit the third stage of grief

[–] ArchibaldNemisis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Some thoughts

-the team is getting better. But it doesn't really matter this year

  • a common theme this season - coaching staff needs to go. They are the ones holding this team back. It's almost like they are still in tank mode. There is no second gear for this staff.

  • Fields played decent his first game back. So decent that it feels he never left. This has been a typical game for whatever Bears QB, especially Fields the last two seasons - about 150 - 205 through the air, about 1 TD. That's it.

  • Fields is a dynamic player, the whole league knows that. His potential is still top 5 QB. But unfortunately he will never reach it. He may reach top 10, but I don't think it'll be on Chicago. If we can fetch a 2nd that would be great.

[–] Guhonda@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Brutal game for Jaylon Johnson. Easy missed pick 6 and obvious DPI. And Stevenson forced two turnovers. That’s not how you convince your employer to offer you more money.

So this season is clearly done, but we’re in a nice spot to transition away from Flus and, sadly, Fields. Go giants, go pats, go cards, go everyone playing carolina

[–] timconnery@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I feel like this game had Fields trending in the build around him direction 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why does the confused one still have a job ?!

[–] I_MARRIED_A_THORAX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

the cheap one won't want to pay two coaches at once

[–] ScruffMixHaha@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The fact that Eberflus doesnt have a single divisional win should be reason enough to fire him. I hope this loss washed any possibility of Eberlose coming back next year.

Anyone else go to their local Jewel and sob uncontrollably in the parking lot after the game yesterday?

Was furious after the game and thought it was odd for a team to win the turnover margin by 3 and still lose. Turns out it IS odd as the rest of my night was filled with posts about the Bears are the only team since the 1930s to do so. Needless to say my morning poop is a little more angry and depressed today

[–] Foxstarry@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I want an existing coach next round. Flus’ #1 issue is he chokes. Either chokes during the game or chokes before the matchup begins. Only way to find out if a guy chokes is watch him do it. An existing coach will have that be known before walking into the door. With an unknown we won’t know until it happens.

[–] JM4G@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Even if we won that. Still wouldn’t feel much. If we win 2 wins in a row maybe I’ll start feeling something about this team. They knew who the bears were exactly.

[–] ZagreusMyDude@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Poles should just fire Flus right now. Don't consult those idiot fuckers upstairs and just tell Flus he's gone and to pack his things. If the McCaskey mcfucks don't like it, then leak to the press everything that happened and embarrass the shit of them.

[–] rugbysecondrow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Flus is the HC and DC...who handles these jobs the rest of the year?

[–] Makes_U_Mad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You're assuming the McCaskeys understand enough about football to get embarrassed over something like that.

I submit that they do not. They are only in it for the $$$$. They do not care how the team performs as long as the money keeps coming in.

[–] vincetronic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

During the game I knew logically they were going to find a way to blow it, even if my heart hoped otherwise, and they did. So in the immediate aftermath I wasn't particularly angry, just resigned.

But this morning, even though I knew that they'd probably blow it, I am mad that they did. What a historic collapse. It feels like we've had multiple historic collapses under Flus.

Coach is the easiest job to replace, why is he still running this team?

[–] Equivalent_Willow567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thinking about how upsetting yesterday was I tend to wake up thinking my thoughts were a little irrational from gameday.. well this morning was different. There is no explanation as to why the Bears choked at the end like that. So tired of hearing "We're going to look at the tape and self scout". Did some good things happen? sure! but at the end the ball game isn't over until that clock hits :00 in the 4th quarter. For the coaching staff to play a game of walking on egg shells while being up 12 points and completely crapping the bed to end with a safety of all things? man that is just terrible. They talk about execution and finishing the game and they absolutely didn't. This coaching staff is not a good mix. Something has to change, still a lot of evaluating for Fields which I thought he looked pretty decent. Warren needs to step in this off season. The players put on a front that they are sticking together and building and getting stronger but no one joins the NFL to lose and be ok with it. Coaches are failing their players.

[–] hammerSmashedNail@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Justin played a decent game yesterday. He’s always entertaining to watch. At the end of the game he had the opportunity to lead the offense on a drive to kill the clock. He failed. All the bears needed was 2 first downs. They got zero. He had the opportunity to lead the team to a game tying or possible winning drive. He failed. The defense is why the bears lost the game. Given the chance to be H1M, the guy, the iceman coming to put the game away, or the leader with last second heroics. He couldn’t do it. He never has been that guy at this level. I doubt he will ever be that guy.

Listening to Eberfleus give his input after the game is like listening to a start-up CEO who has no idea how he is fucking things up with the company in real-time.

Fields put up more points vs the Lions than Mahomes and it’s somehow his fault 🙄

[–] WzDson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Our next coaches needs to have aggressive mind set, opposite of flus and Getsy.
