I've bought a second iPhone (a used 13 mini) just to use as a webcam through Continuity Camera, and it's fantastic quality and at the same time much cheaper and less clunky than a standalone DSLR. Really happy with it!
There's one problem:
Every time I unplug and plug in my machine, the iPhone (iCamera?) needs me to unlock it with FaceId for it to reconnect to the machine and be available as a webcam again. Not a huge deal, but not ideal either.
Anyone else experience the same thing? Any ideas on what I could do to either make it automatically unlock (f.ex. when my Apple Watch is nearby) or not need to unlock to use Continuity camera?
My set up:
I have it set up in a fixed position on top of my desktop monitor, and connected through the USB hub on my monitor, with a single cable going to my Macbook. I've turned off bluetooth (so it won't still attempt to be my webcam wirelessly when I'm not at my desk) and have no non-standard apps or content on the phone, although it still has wifi (for updates) and is logged in to my iCloud. I have also turned off "stand-by-mode" as when that came on, the webcam wouldn't turn on.
