I'm fine keeping Justin, but the coaching staff has to go.

[–] reddit4ne@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So there are apparently two crowds here regarding Justin Fields performance

There is the crowd that watched the WHOLE game, fromst start to finish.
And to a tee, even those who traditionally are doubtful about Justin Fields, said that Justin Fields played a very good game today and was robbed of victory.

Then there is the crowd that did not watch the whole game, , and so are left to cherry pick stats that are irrelevant or lack contecx, and point to the one lowlight (of course Fields fumble at the end) to conveniently feed a narrative and conclusion that were drawn long ago.

Its so obvious, the evidence is in the gamethread, which is markedly different from the post game thread. The whole game thread, even immediately following the last post of the game was almost 100% posts saying,"Please dont let morons that didnt watch the game try to blame Fields for this loss. He played great. This is 100% Eberflus fault, worst coaching job ever."

I’m not ready to listen to the meatballs on espn1000/the score that call in and put that loss on Justin and say they would’ve won with bagent

[–] jimmy__jazz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ready to be down voted, but a quality QB would have won this game. Fields is as good as Trubisky. If we moved on from Trubisky at this point, then we need to move on from Fields.

[–] ACAB_FOR_CUTIE_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not so fun fact: Since the NFL-AFL merger, there have been 61 games in which a team held the ball for at least 40 minutes and collected four takeaways, as the Bears did Sunday. The Bears are the first team to ever to lose in regulation and only the third to lose at all.

[–] Jorikstead@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You can say Fields proved the haters wrong with his.. 150yds of passing.. but the truth is if you give Justin the ball in the same 4th quarter situation as Goff it’s a Bears loss 10 out of 10 times and that’s really what this is all about.

[–] _ForkliftCertified@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How’d the O-line look today

[–] Lobanium@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Watching the DVRed game right now. It's 26-14 with like 5 minutes left. Knowing they end up losing is just wild. That's so Bears.

[–] chicubs234@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can someone explain to me how the prevent defense prevents offenses to score? Bc every single time I see a team play this strategy late in a game, all they do is lose. What are you trying to prevent? Offenses march right down the field gaining all the momentum.

If everything is played up front in the prevent defense, how did Jaylon and Eddie get so cooked on that touchdown???

This has to be the worst strategy in all of sports.

[–] wesnutz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Y’all are wild I watched Tyson Bagent the last couple weeks and Kenny Pickett and Zach Wilson today and god damn was it fun to watch Justin Fields play QB today.

Loss is on Eberflus and the coaching staff. It ain’t on Scott. It ain’t on Jaylon Johnson. It’s on the coaching staff. Some of you guys ain’t been a Bears fan long enough to know truly bad QB play. Ever watch a Jonathan Quinn play QB? Ever tune in for a Chad Hutchinson or a washed up Chris Chandler. Sound like some Packers fans and y’all ain’t had no damn all pro QB to even miss. Fields ain’t great but at least he’s fun to watch and coming in here and reading this shit is more depressing than the end of that game. Idk how you watch Tyson Bagent for 4 weeks and bitch about Fields today. Lol incredible.

[–] DravensAxe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Regardless of how fields looks, this is 3 seasons with the bears ending with premium draft picks aka having a very shitty record. That results in drafting another qb. It is what it is.

[–] Independent-Word9609@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fields threw for 160 yards today. The leash for Fields is ridiculously long. Next game he’ll have a spy on him and back to looking like shit

[–] RubeGoldbergMachines@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Giving up that safety made the NFL RedZone top 5 plays. So at least we have that going for us. SMH.

[–] ktbarry2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

even knowing this fanbase is 70% meatball, it’s still unfathomable to me that anyone’s primary takeaway from the game today is something negative about justin fields. get a grip.

[–] TherealPattyP@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Anyone blaming Fields is a dumb asswipe. The end.

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah 169 yards passing sure is killing it. What a stud!

[–] Independent-Word9609@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

3 years in and I still gotta watch this guy pretend to be a QB. This fan base gives me a headache. The ownership gives me a headache. Y’all deserve each other

[–] theresabeeonyourhat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
  1. Fire Getsy

  2. Fire Eberflus

  3. Anyone involved in the coaching search last time can never be involved again

  4. Again, keep Fields & Bagent, give them a good coaching staff, but also draft a QB

  5. If Ryan Poles spends the top 2 picks on defense, I swear to fucking god I'm done

[–] Bob_Horde@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’m not defending the coaching, but at some point fields has to make the play in clutch situations. We’ve seen it legit like 10 times now and he always comes up short. Those are the moments that make the great ones great and make guys like Kirk cousins who are above average seen as impossible to win meaningful games with

[–] alex_sz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fields literally made a clutch play with DJ in the same game and you say this?

[–] RollofDuctTape@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m just confused and want everyone fired.

[–] Drippin7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lions fans are so trash fuck that fan base.

[–] TopDaBears651@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] TurdFergusonXLV@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You know who looked pretty good today? Jordan Love.

[–] flipbmo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Justin fields just hit the wall, he never had it all One sack a play. Centers not okay His dreams went out the door when he got drafter at-four Only been with one team , what happened to his plan? He was gonna be a champion , he was gonna be a star he was gonna shake his ass on the hood of Virginias car The yellow first down line is now the enemy Looks at his average stats and nothin' has been alright

Since bruce Springsteen
Mcmichael Way before Nirvana There was defense and payton And music still on MTV 'Cause were still preoccupied With 19, 19 1985

[–] Bob_Horde@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fire Eberlose yesterday

[–] Iron_Mike0@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A few thoughts on Fields:

Anyone who says he isn't a winner as a reason to move on from him should be discredited immediately. It's an idiotic argument not based on any qualitative assessment of his game. Especially when the team blatantly tanked last year.

That said, he played well today. Everyone screaming about passing yards must not have watched them chew up clock in the second half by running almost every play. Hard to get passing yards when you run the ball. He himself made a lot of the nice runs on a day the running backs really didn't do much outside of a few good runs by Roshon and Herbert. More often than not they got stuffed.

Also I don't buy the argument that Fields is to blame for the play calls on the three and out drive at the end. He knows they are forcing Detroit to take time outs by running. I think everyone expects QBs to be like Peyton Manning and have carte blanche to do whatever they want at the line. It seems likely the coaches told him to run no matter what given the clock situation. Would be interested to hear someone who's actually played in the NFL explain how those situations work.

[–] Lex1520@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fire the fucking coaching staff

[–] Handylee-7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The coaching at the end cost us this game, not the players. In fact, make Flus and Getsy walk back to Chicago, they don’t deserve a plane ride home…

[–] GroggyLand@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You go for it on 4th & 1 on their 23 yard line. Cowardly play calling

[–] AS3an@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Not sure why people are still upset when they're deliberately tanking the season so we can guarantee #1 and #2 picks. Just watch RedZone lol.

[–] football_dude79@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How many years in a row they “deliberately tanking” now? 5? 6?

[–] warwithus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We have a team that’s tanking for us, I want to win games.

[–] sgtmattkind@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

As I've said year after year after year. Nothing happens until Viriginia dies. I'm pretty sure she's an immortal vampire at this point, so just enjoy the forever-ride.

[–] antmoot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fire Eberflus. Hire Ditka.

[–] WorkMeBaby1MoreTime@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We played a much better team and thanks to some really good breaks and sound defense, we were in the game till the end. That's an improvement.

Fields played OK, 169 yards passing isn't going to win a lot of games against a very good team. My sole conclusion from that game is that the jury is still out on JF1. When that dude starts throwing for 250 yards a game 2 out of 3 games, I'll buy in.

It seems like we throw a 3 yard pass, or a 45 yard bomb. Nothing in the middle.

[–] MagazineNo6910@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Draft May and keep Fields. You will have another year to evaluate. No one has ever accused the Bears of having to many good QB’s
