I like Edwards a lot but compelled to note a lot of these are because hes giving up a ton of completions in coverage

[–] PitchBlac@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lol. Almost all of them are on good defenses except for TJ

Aren't his other stats pretty close to Roquan as well? Like yes, Roquan is (now) considered elite, but the Bears got their whole linebacking core for around the same price, maybe $2 million less? Unless i'm just really stupid here.

[–] devinstated1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

No they were not the same money wise: Roquan $20m, Edmunds $18m, Edwards $6.5m.

[–] Unabridgedversion82@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is false if we're going by the size of the contract. Our starting 3 LB's total contracts value are less than Roquan's.

[–] Ok-Tune-8859@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And a draft pick that they used for Tyler Scott.

[–] playmaker1209@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Don’t forget that Roquan has played one more game than TJ. He played Thursday night so TJ could def pass him.

[–] gomerp77@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m WAY happier with his signing than I am with Edmunds’

[–] SurelyRight@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Edwards has been good all year. Unfortunately he seems to just get lumped in with Edmunds because of similar name, position, signing day

[–] Upset_Researcher_143@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When you're on the field that much, it's hard not to be on this list

[–] Er0ck619@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Edwards has been a great signing and great value.

[–] AMWChicago@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is a function of having a bad offense that puts our defense on the field more?

Not that he isn’t a good LB. Just can explain why he’s 3rd

[–] Wh0IsMrX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Roquan is in a scheme better suited to him. Edwards has been great and a tremendous value. Edmunds has been disappointing so far and has not played like a $20M player, which is the real issue.

[–] hahasuslikeamongus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ll welcome the downvoted but i know i’m right. We’d be a lot better with roquan than edmunds, dexter, and that extra 2 million. Like a LOT better

[–] enailcoilhelp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Again, total tackles is not an accurate measure of how good a LB is.

See: Blake Martinez

Edwards is a good player, but it doesn't change the fact tackles aren't the best stat.

[–] Green_freedom_fan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And Ravens played Thursday night so Edward’s will probably have another 10 tackles Sunday…

[–] JuicyJfrom3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Crying Roquan fans incoming. Almost like they both can be good and one doesn’t take away from the other.

[–] Material-Race-5107@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imagine a world where Roquan stayed AND we signed Edwards. I’m still hopeful that Edmonds can be elite when fully healthy and with a better pass rush, but so far he’s been pretty underwhelming for us

[–] Seniorsheepy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

First down!!!

[–] Ok-Tune-8859@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I am not qualified to be critical. People wanna give criticism towards Poles only to sound smart. He's criticized for passing on Carter and taking Wright and don't have the same means or depth of evaluation Carter was just misssunderstood leaving a story with something in a bag without paying.. A wise engineer told me once it's better To keep your mouth shut and let people think you don't know what you're talking about then it is to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

[–] DJTheBearsFan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Says more about the D-line playing bad earlier in the season, but I still think Edwards is solid

[–] butterfaerts@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I honestly think Edwards and Sanborn, as we’re seeing, would have been all we needed. Somebody else could have filled in at Sam, they’re on the field 1/3 of the time anyway.

[–] Grand-Hat3526@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Roquan is only first right now because he played Thursday. Edward’s has been 1 or 2 most of the season.

[–] Crathsor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

To be fair, we have been a game ahead of a lot of teams much of the year because our BYE is so late.

[–] Grand-Hat3526@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Are you even a Bears fan??

[–] Crathsor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I still think we can beat the Lions. You know. In theory. Any given Sunday?

[–] vicyayo1995@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wow that guy in the first spot is really good. Maybe should get him

[–] Crathsor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He only needs 12 combined tackles to make the Bears top 10 list for tackles in a single season (tracked since 1994.) He is chasing Brian Urlacher's 123 from 2007. He is on pace to shatter the team record (currently 163 by Roquan Smith in 2021.)

[–] Nature_Goulet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

All this means is we won’t pay him and he’ll leave

[–] ActFuture1101@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He gets a lot of tackles but sucks in the pass game. Still a good WILL if edmunds wasn't a disappointment.
