i know, its not shocking that a guy that voices a thing called 'reading rainbow' is pro-lgbt

But you don’t have to take my word for it, {cut to supercut of transphobes being beat up}

Anyone who is promoting literacy (celebrity or otherwise) should be venerated. Reading core to development of a society, also new ideas make way for new ways of understanding. New understandings I think leads to more empathy which is rad.

Also tran kiddos need as much escapism they can get. Trans teens to be reading for real.

I don't understand the Drew Barrymore bit. What's the context?

I think she was supposed to host but then got booted after she tried to cross the picket line by continuing her ~~podcast~~ talk show (thx @Cromalin@hexbear.net

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

yeah basically. talk show, not podcast, but everyone was pissed about it especially because it happened like a week before the strike ended

I'm not going to suggest that he's not a trans ally, because I would really love him to be. But I suspect it's more about it being an anti-book group.

In their case they're basically the same thing, 90% of their brainworms are dedicated to treating any book that's pro-LGBT as if it was porn.

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

i mean, they're anti-book because they're anti-trans. even if it's for a different reason i'm glad he's willing to fight them

Maybe we’re taking the same bus route to a different location. Sometimes that’s okay.

Good point 🤔 though most the books they ban mention LGBT people

"Take a look, it's LeVar's left hook. Reading Rainboooow" Seriously though, I love this man. LeVar Burton is a national treasure
