Buying iPhone from FB Marketplace/Craigslist (alien.top)

Thought it's wise to ask on here before I get scammed... I'm in need of a new phone and seeing lots of posts on marketplace/craigslist with phones that are $500-600 cheaper than retail including tax. I have asked one seller to send me the serial number with the receipt and it checked out
on https://checkcoverage.apple.com/?locale=en_IN&utm_source=pocket_saves. He even agreed to go to Apple store at Coquitlam Centre to verify the phone together.

But why would they sell for cheap? What's the catch here?
