Apple vs Android battle, BEGIN!!

[–] Sparkyeanon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My teenager and his friends all use android and stay away from apple. Slightly irritating but I respect it.

I live in Japan and work for a Japanese company.

My personal phone is an iphone.

My work phone is an iphone.

I don't know anyone with an android phone, anyone.

I also don't know anyone who uses imessage. Japanese use LINE and foreigners use LINE and WhatsApp.

Google has got to fix the messaging disparity. RCS is not iMessage. It never will be. It relies on your SIM card having an active network connection to work. The apps are the other issue. Let’s just face it… Android apps on the whole are not as good as their iOS equivalent. Developers spend 90% of their time and money on the iOS versions of their apps, the Android version gets the crumbs leftover.

Well yeah, no one wants to look poor.

[–] Bryanmsi89@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's imessage.

If android phones showed up in imessage as red bubbles or purple bubbles but everything still worked OR if Apple released iMessage for Android very few would actually care about the type of phone used .

Who buys phones for these teens?

[–] Gur_Obvious@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It never was. I had android when I was young and it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

[–] PicklePirate88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm a teenager. Ios/MacOs is infuriating.

I will never, ever buy or use an apple product, but this failure is mostly on google. Just look at how slowly android is rolling out the findmy network. It's like they aren't even interested in being competitive.

That company lost its way and its soul well before 2009, when the value of search plummeted. I hope they fail completely, so that apple will face anti-trust actions in multiple megaregions.

Recently I got an iPhone 15 pro max. I lasted 2 days and returned it. The hardware is cool but the software is still an unusable trash

Android has always been a plaything of the tech-savvy or a utilitarian tool for the poorer masses.

If you're in neither one of these categories, then the appeal of iOS is unquestioned.

The tech-savvy audience for Android has driven away a lot of the "cool factor", in my experience, no one wants to be caught dead talking about the latest rom or firmware they've flashed onto their 5 year old Oneplus because it's just cringe.

Apple just works, and that's all anyone cares about anymore.

I wished Android would just work without having to tweak it!

Comments in this tread remind me that having options is a good thing.

Apple is a cult

[–] Wintermutemancer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What am I doing in Apple subreddit?

[–] generaltso78@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My last iPhone was a 5 I think. I use my wife's 15 and get so frustrated about the lack of a back button just as she gets frustrated with my phone. One of the biggest reasons I would have a hard time switching back is that I can't schedule text messages with an iPhone (at least that used to be the case). I run a small business and will constantly think of a text I need to send a customer or employee, but don't want to send it at 11pm, so I schedule it to be sent at 9am, etc..

There is this solution to messaging from Nothing.
