yurikuma arashi is a show where bears (lesbians) are attacking and eating (seducing) (also killing and eating) the innocent schoolgirls of japan in a surreal and deeply horny commentary on depictions of queer characters in anime by ikuni, director of utena

so what i'm saying is this guy has the right idea when it comes to how to analyze it

also here's a couple screenshots so you have an idea of the level this is working on. some of these are nsfw

I literally have no idea what this post is about, but I want to know why "homo certified" is not an emoji yet

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

someone went actually about an anime where bear attacks are a very mixed metaphor for homophobic screeds about queerness and i thought it was funny

[–] RedQuestionAsker2@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Interesting. I like bears and that anime looks pretty gay.

Might have to check it out.

it's VERY gay. like, zero men and the girls are all just having sex with each other. it's by the guy who did utena, which is a much better show that's almost as gay

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

if we @WhyEssEff@hexbear.net can she make it happen?

:homo-certified:

[–] RedQuestionAsker2@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Maybe. Or we might have to crop it and submit it to the emoji com

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

it has been submitted

It's just a show about roommates that's all

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

roommates can kiss and confess their love and eat each other out platonically, it's fine

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"no homo" she cries as she arches her back in a shuddering orgasm

"We Are Having Lesbian Sex Because We Are In A Romantic Relationship (Sexually)" is a story about coworkers who get along really well

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

It's open to interpretation.

Okay awesome this is the next show I'm watching lol

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

i watched it with my now partner before we started dating and had a great time. not as good as utena, and a whole lot messier, but still fun

[–] milistanaccount09@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeahh I have been watching utena with my roommate but we are going very slow 😔

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

i'm currently on 2 separate rewatches of it with friends. it's good but it's also more than 3 times as long as yka

I don't watch much anime or read much manga anymore, but when I do it's generally weird shit.

This sounds sick

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

if you haven't seen ikuhara's other work it's all stuff i would categorize as "weird shit"

utena is definitely his best work (and my favorite show of all time), but this and sarazanmai are both worth watching. haven't seen penguindrum yet

i guess sailor moon isn't that weird, but he was just the director of a few seasons of the anime there, not the actual creative person behind it
