If you bought an Ultra, why did you choose se it over the regular Apple Watch?

When I saw it announced last year, I thought to myself “no one is going to buy that”. I just thought there were too few features that most people don’t need. But now I see them everywhere. I don’t see the appeal of increased battery life being worth twice the price of the standard watch.

Why did you buy the Ultra and is it worth the price to you?

Prove me wrong I guess?

I’m a big guy and always liked big watches

I was aiming for a stainless steel Apple Watch for its cellular and sapphire glass so the Ultra isn’t that far off. I expected the Ultra to be much higher in price because this is Apple but was surprised that it is barely more expensive than the stainless steel ones.

As a runner, the dual band GPS does make the turns more sharp and accurate as compared to my SS Series 5. Also the battery life allows me to attend running activities with my running clubs right after work as compared to my SS Series 5 which is usually like 30-40% battery life by 6pm.

Display size and brightness. Health monitoring. Battery life. Titanium (weight). Sapphire crystal.

battery, screen size, action button. the exclusive faces ended up being a plus.

I maybe wrong, but to me the Ultra is more of a masculine watch

I do some of the hardest manual labor you can imagine it literally tears everything up. I put no protection on my watch and a full year later not a single scratch on it. I have to remember to take it off when I detail my car because it will scratch it up (the car) when I do between seats and stuff

IMO, majority who compares the regular SS w/ cellular to the Ultra being minimal price difference is just a convenient excuse to go for the Ultra.

Most regular people who buys an Apple Watch will just go with the regular aluminum and then compare with the Ultra (Which is almost double the price).

The main question is, is the battery life, flat screen, sapphire screen and the additional features worth almost double the price? NOT "Hey the Ultra is only $50 or $100 more than the AW SS, so why not?"

Without the existence of Ultra, how many actually buys the SS models? There are some for sure, but majority regular AW on the streets are still alu.

I don’t get why anyone gets anything more than the cheapest version. I had a 3rd gen and eventually I couldn’t even do software updates and the battery barely lasted a day. I’d get the stainless if the battery was replaceable… but they aren’t. So I just got the SE2, it does what I want, and it’s super light (I used it for shot tracking while playing golf)

Just cuz it looks different. But more importantly because it’s more expensive. Veblen Goods 1O1

Simple reason? It was bigger - chunkier. I’m a big dude and the other Apple Watches always looked so small on me so I’d only end up using them for exercise. Now I have an ultra 2 I wear it all the time.

Watching TV and playing video games is dangerous. I need a sturdy watch. And someday I may take up diving.

Can an ultra last 30 hours using GPS? My gf does 100 mile races sometimes and I wonder if the Ultra would last?
