Question: does anyone know how first aid certification works in the US? I used to have one with St Johns Ambulances in HK but that expired during covid and high school when I didn't go and renew it, and I'm thinking of maybe redoing it over January break.

I'm assuming it's similar in Canada.

Just need to sign up for the half or full day course, depending on which you need. I forget what the big difference is between the two apart from one being a half day and the other being a full ๐Ÿ˜‚.

That is wild to me, cuz Hong Kong's is way longer. My one was a 30 hour course, and there was an exam too. That's the standard in HK iirc.

30? Thats is crazy! That's like a week almost!!! As a tradesman I get these every 3-5 years and it's so laid back, where we go through the test as a group, one question at a time, just to make everyone is passing. Cause SAFETY!!

10 Sessions, 3 hours each, yeah. Certification lasts for 3 years. Teaches you how to do like all the triangular bandaging stuff and like everything from heat stroke to broken bones to CPR/AED, so it was definitely worth the time. I'm amazed that that's not standard, to be quite honest.

though we did it with them being morning / afternoon sessions so it was 5 days only. I was also still well in school so I had the time for it but in general they do those courses on like Saturdays or something for adults. Now i'm kinda wishing I did it in Hong Kong again lol :P

Times article on sin bins

Really want to see this at a professional level. I live in an area where soccer is like 6th or 7th on the popularity charts behind curling and the most common complaint I get from "casual" fans is the diva behaviour, the diving, and the pretending to have lost a limb while barrel rolling across the field.

And I agree with them. It's a blight on the sport that I wish would disappear, but it won't unless it disappears from the professional level first.

It's a chant for Cloe Lacasse, to the tune of Voules-vous

Twenty four, Lacasse Running down the wing (Lacasse) Hear the Arsenal sing (Lacasse) And we're gonna win the league

not watching but i'm not a fan of us losing, even if it's just the ex-pizza cup

tbf Reading are only in this competition because of financial issues, they were in the championship last year (though they are terrible this year as well in the league below)

[โ€“] Astrealix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Apparently Vieira scored a pen and missed the second (should never have the same person take two pens I'm convinced)

Nelson I hear was amazing

[โ€“] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Vieira and Nelson play the Pizza cup today

Vieira and Reiss starting for U21s.

Ramsdale probably ends up at chelsea is my guess

[โ€“] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Would fucking hate that. He is good enough to, and should start for us, at least long term if not short term.

[โ€“] nuggsy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'd be shattered if that happens... ๐Ÿ˜”

I'm curious though, and correct me if I'm wrong, isn't Raya only on loan? Or is there an option to buy. Because what happens if he goes back to Brentford and doesn't return?

[โ€“] SoupACabra@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Raya was brought on loan to comply with FFP.

[โ€“] nuggsy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Interesting... I feel like I missed something. Would it be possible to elaborate a bit more for someone daft like me? ๐Ÿ˜…

[โ€“] Astrealix@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

We have an option to buy but it's been widely reported we want to sign him permanently, just didn't because of FFP issues.

[โ€“] nuggsy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Ahhh, gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up! :)
