no such thing as a truly original experience

chronic heroin use raises estrogen levels. always wondered if that's why many trans people end up with opioid habits.

less about purely chasing the high or rush but more the "i just feel more myself" that can occur over time

I feel like it's more the average trans person is way more depressed and lives in conditions where opiates would be easier to get

[–] Azarova@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This is probably more correct, but I definitely wasn't upset to learn opiates were suppressing my T

i never know, what's the difference?

[–] spacecadet@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is it that unheard of for a cis hetero man to recognize this dumb country's rampant misogyny and the utter arbitrary-ness of gender identifiers (e.g. dresses aren't for men!) ?

no. but it's not about saying kurt cobain specifically was specifically a transgender woman. it's about recognition of the self through the other, pointing to common threads of experience within the community. it's also a matter of reclaiming history. we have always been here. is it really so hard to believe a famous rock star may have been trans? if so, why?

i recommend reading this for a more thorough take on it, as well as some of the comments here for an idea of where trans people come from when they say things like this

Really appreciate the explanation and links, did not mean to come off quite as dismissive as I did
