I have no problem with the refs calling that penalty - they are just enforcing the rules as written.

The problem is the rules - the defender looked like he was trying to avoid a helmet to helmet hit and the receiver lowered his own head.

I suppose there is an argument that the rules are just unfair (which they are) and the trade off is safety.

l think if tacklers wrapped up (like they are taught) they'd get the benefit of those calls. Just laying a shoulder into a guy is more associated with a cheap shot, not a proper tackle
