I find a lot of people don’t even know all the great things you can do with your iPhone. So based on your experience and knowledge, what do you think the rest of us should be using or learning more about?

Configuring Back tap to do simple actions such as going to the home screen, dimming the display, and a lot of other things

Guided Access. Power button triple tap and boom you can confidently hand-over your phone to others on certain occasions.

You can calculate without opening the calculator by swiping down on your home screen and it evens shows you the numbers you have typed so you don’t have to struggle for it, in the normal calculator

Simply scroll down from the middle of your screen and and siri suggestion and some other will show up with the search bar or you can click on the search bar from below your screen (above the phone and message app)

I think to many people dont know that you can put the Music Recognition into your Control center. Like this you can Shazam Music thats played on your iPhone, i think this is pretty usefull. Also its a faster access imo if you want to shazam any music from Radio or a friend what ever.

This was a game changer for me. I added this a while ago … it’s great for when you watch a reel or video and want to know the song in the background.

Yeah absolutly!

This thread’s made me realise Apple isn’t as limited as it’s been made out to be lmao

You can copy/paste numbers and objects straight from your photos. (Idk what phone this begins on tho because I have the X and can’t do it, but my mom’s SE and bf’s 14 pro both can do it.

I’ve been using this functionality and it is 💯

not really an actual feature but for those that also think a 10% battery warning isn’t enough, i set a custom battery warning in the shortcuts app that warns me at 5%

[–] pietro_lc@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Shortcuts and automations... My iphone automatically set the screen brightness to minimum every night, so when i wake up it doesnt hurt my eyes. There's so much you can do, and a lot of ppl just don't know

I know Siri isn't as smart as other voice assistant, but it still a pretty handy feature to use when your hands are busy or you're just not in the mood to type or basically use your finger

AirTag sharing on iOS 17

[–] Plastic-Mess-3959@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

In find my iOS 17 if your sharing location with someone you can find them using the proximity thing the same way you find an AirTag

[–] Eyeseeyou01@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)
  • FaceTime works with non Apple people. Maybe non Apple people need to know this
  • Killing apps doesn’t help like people think it does
[–] Jay-Quellin30@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I knew this was a new feature coming. How does it work? Do you need to turn it on?

[–] Eyeseeyou01@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think scanning text to input into a note isn’t as known. Also downloading map data and sharing AirTags

I’ve learned a lot from Tom of Proper Honest Tech on YouTube. This thread has helped a lot too, so thank you, Redditors!

The tracking settings that can and should be turned off.

Hide my email has changed my life. All those pay walls and websites that require an email address etc. newsletters et al..all emails are redirected to your iCloud account. Can easily delete them and not have to unsubscribe. If there is a data breach you just delete the account.

iCloud family passwords: allows you to share passwords with family members like Netflix etc

Also family sharing is amazing anything anyone within the family purchases books, movies, apps, etc. are available to the entire family (5 people max)

The real magic is when you fully integrate with watch, iMac, iPad appleTV. It’s just seamless and makes each device better.

Trying to learn the complexities of the Shortcuts App/feature as I’m over 40 and NOT a coder or programmer, lol. I was an Android since ’09 guy (usually Samsung), but I bought a new iPhone SE 2 last January and can’t see myself going back honestly. Oh no, now I’m going to be one of those iPhone snooties! Well I guess I see why now though as this SE lays waste to any flagship Droid I ever owned and this is the cheapest iPhone model available. I feel duped. And now I know fer a fact I’ll buy the new iPhone standard flagship model when it comes out next year, either that or the new SE, whichever drops first. After having Android for years and iPhone for less than one I see what my friend was telling me when trying to get me to convert. He said if Android is like Milwaukee’s Best Ice, then iPhone is akin to Dom Perignon! 🍾I concur, cheers.🥂
