The ‘power off’ function.
Apple
A place for Apple news, rumors, and discussions.
This is really basic but I didn’t know you could copy something on one Apple device and paste in a different one. I would manually type stuff in like a sucker until I learned about this feature
Copy and paste texts from photos... also the big thing I find not everyone uses is the is swiping the task bar to swap apps. Or using accessibility feature like tripe tapping the Apple logo to take a screen shot.. I use that one a lot. Honestly almost All the accessibility features are useful even if you're not in need the targeted audience. L
Reduce White point, and then setting it up as a shortcut.
Sometimes when I’m holding my phone in both hands I’ll drum on the back of it with my fingers. The flashlight randomly comes on. I think that’s a feature.
I don’t really worry about it. Everyone has their own needs and I don’t try to push what I find useful into them.
In the Books app, open a book, and with “speak screen” turned on, you can turn that book into an audiobook.
Scheduled Notifications Summary.
-
Swiping to the camera slightly, turns off your flashlight. Easier than fiddling for the flashlight button.
-
The contacts widget shows any Find My Friends locations. You can nickname locations so it’ll say ‘Wife, home’ or ‘Wife, work’, etc, at a glance.
-
Shortcut to always return to my maps in driving mode after 10 seconds (say if someone rings you or if you’ve checked Spotify).
-
Shortcut to put on DND until I leave the current location so I never forget to turn it off. Assigned this to a triple lock key press.

Siri can skip your morning/next alarm, but the day after it’ll be normal.
Swipe up and right for the app switcher from anywhere OS wide.
Voice Isolation mic mode on the 15 series is legit the best daily use feature.
If your car throws a dash light and you don't know what it means, take a picture of it and then go to the picture in your photo library and click the little "i" in a circle at the bottom of the UI, and it'll tell you what the light means.
pulling down on dead space and searching for that app you know you have but cant find
Document scanning in the notes app.
Taking a screenshot in safari lets you toggle between what it took and the full website (rolling capture), which you can save as a pdf.
Tapping and holding the space bar to move your cursor to a certain word and then tap (don’t hold) with a second finger and move the first one to start selecting individual letters.
I don’t really see how this is useful as deleting the whole word and typing it out again is faster but I just think it’s cool.
using 2 fingers, swipe up or down in a list to select multiple items (for example message conversations)
microphone stopped working on my friend’s iphone 7. we don’t know how to fix it. he tried calling me on messenger but i cant hear him.
To see the authenticity of photos sent to you through messages save the photo , go to your camera roll and swipe up to see details.
Drag the bottom of the screen downwards to bring the entire screen down so you can use your phone with one hand. You have to drag it at the edge of the screen for it work.
Shortcuts. They are super useful and some people aren’t even aware of it.
Free baby monitor!
You need an Apple Watch and a baby for this, but when I forgot to take the baby monitor to grandparents/friends I turn on: Settings -> Accessibility -> Sound Recognition -> Sounds -> Baby Crying -> On Then I leave my phone in the room where my baby is sleeping and it will send a notification to my watch whenever she is crying.
Also I have an Anker magsafe wallet with built in stand. I prop up the phone to a shelf pointing at the sleeping baby and I can use the apple watch built in camera remote app to check in on her in a live zoomable video feed.
For recording video while playing music, open the camera app in photo mode, hold down the shoot button and when prompted, slide your thumb to the right. Music will not stop and video will get recorded.
You are my hero. This is amazing.
The option of 80% battery charging on iPhone 15
Assistive Touch. This is how I set it up.
Basically I don’t rely on physical buttons of my iPhone on a daily basis, except for turning the phone on and off. Then again, the last time I had it restarted was during software updates. This will keep your buttons and mute switch in mint condition.
I have back tap set up for screenshots
Wifi sharing. Not a groundbreaking feature but somehow I’ve blown every persons mind with it.
Darker blue / green message bubbles.
Settings->accessibility->per app settings.
Add Messages, then turn Increased Contrast ON.
You can physically shake your phone to Undo most of the last thing you did, like moving apps in Home Screen, undo typing, undo delete photos, etc.
You can also do this by tapping the screen twice with three fingers if you don’t want to seem daft waggling your phone in public.
I spend too much time going into the settings. 😜
Silencing unknown numbers
universal clipboard, awesome to be able to copy and paste between devices
Continuity between Apple devices. If I copy something on my iPhone, I can paste it to my Mac / iPad seamlessly.
Altstore and sideloading,
Knocking on doors is louder with an iPhone and saves your knuckles.
Look up the meaning of those cryptic laundry care icons….
That feature where they don't have RCS and can't communicate with other brand phones.
We can combine multiple PDFs using the Files app. Just need to name the files in correct order. I generally use numbers only for ex: 1, 2, 3....
The backtap function, so useful to be able to be able to just tap the back once or twice to turn on the flashlight, open the camera or do something more complicated like run a process
I need them to know how terrible the keyboard autocorrect, all the “smart typing” features and notifications are. Maybe if enough people use, we get a fix.
Scroll-to-top in every scrolling behavior of apps, when tapping the menu bar
