I don’t know how any of this will shake out over the next month or so in regards to the scandal… but… if this opens the door for Harbaugh to leave Michigan and return back to the NFL, the Bears need to open the checkbook and ask him for a number.

Look at the postgame of the Michigan-Penn State match up. These coaches and players are choking up on the verge of tears just talking about him, they love the man. This Michigan team would run through multiple brick walls for him.

The Bears have looked completely lifeless all season when they’re not eking out wins against the other worst team in the league. Eberflus can talk about HITS to the press til he’s blue in the face but nobody in the locker room seems bought into anything about this coaching regime.

Harbaugh is the type of coach to set a direction for a rudderless ship. If it were any other big name college coach I’d be more wary but he’s been to the Super Bowl, he’s no stranger to the league.

Even today we still call him “Coach Ditka”. A lifetime Bear. In 40 years we could still be talking about another Bear as “Coach Harbaugh”.

Not a Harbaugh fan really, but he'd be great fit actually. Bears need a fire lit in their belly....which is also probably why they wouldn't hire him.

[–] Brodie1567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Bears will never sign a personality like Harbaugh as long as the Mccaskeys run the organization.

[–] Gryffindorq@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

this will be the 3rd straight coaching change ive banged the drum for Harbaugh so maybe this is the time

[–] Gleasonryan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Michigan did nothing wrong.

[–] WzDson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Sean Payton sat out a year and sucks now. How terrible is Harbaugh gonna be? I think the nfl games already past him.

[–] Paran0idMan33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You don’t think he’s been paying attention to the NFL since he’s been at Michigan? A lot of newer concepts in the NFL have come from college football anyway.

[–] UncleGizmo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No.No.No.

Look at what happened in SF after a couple years. The Harbaugh Hardcore won’t play. And it doesn’t matter if George is still here

[–] coinblock@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t want a cheater

[–] devadander23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (7 children)

Bears fans are going to flip when eberflus is back next year

[–] SurferSting84@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Bears won’t have fans at that point

[–] devadander23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That’s a problem with the fanbase, not the team. Way too toxic

[–] Anstavall@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Higher chance he’s back than Harbaugh being coach

[–] Jake-Old-Trail-88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I wouldn’t mind if he was our DC. But as the HC, not so much. But if he beats GB, ATL, AZ, MN and finishes with 7 wins I could easily see him coming back.

Bears fans are going to flip when eberflus is back next year

Can confirm I would literally flip a shit

[–] duhbears23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If he's back next year I'll do my own little bears boycott won't watch a bears game I barely watch them this year this whole staff is ass from chris Morgan, getsy, especially Eberflus

You have it backwards. Harbaugh has been desperately trying to come back to the NFL for a while and no organizations want him. NFL teams are not trying to get him to come to their organization.

[–] MilkMan1880@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Harbaugh would be a home run hire. So,… I’m sure they’ll go in a different direction. Unfortunately, Goofy George always misses the mark!

[–] sparkles1887@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There is zero chance that the McCaskeys would allow this, he couldn’t be further from the type of people that they are comfortable with. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

[–] scal23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (7 children)

I find the infatuation with a guy who hasn't been in the NFL in 10 years bizarre.

[–] DentonTrueYoung@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He was really good.

[–] Irateredditarguments@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm guessing they are Michigan fans. Which explains why they want Fields to fail, too. If so they should fuck off back to a CFB sub.

[–] brakx@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] CK16@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He has won everywhere. College and NFL. He built Stanford into a powerhouse for gods sake

[–] Paran0idMan33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Did you think it was bizarre when the Seahawks hired Pete Carroll?

[–] Solid_Snark@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It’s because Harbaugh is a former QB and knows how to coach QBs. Look what he did for Kaepernick. Went from mediocre to almost winning a Super Bowl.

That’s basically what Bears fans have always wanted: A head coach that doesn’t fuck up the Quarterback position.

If we draft another Quarterback I’d like a coaching staff that won’t piss it away like what’s happening with Fields.

Maybe not Jim, but hopefully we get a coach who can do something with our QBs other than ruin them.

[–] TheManWhoWasNotShort@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Look at Harbaugh at Michigan before you sell him as a QB whisperer. Michigan has struggled to develop QBs, and done so for a while. McCarthy is alright finally, but the list of QBs that were big recruits that busted with Harbaugh is pretty long.

The biggest red flag for Jim Harbaugh is his ability to develop QBs. There are a lot of good reasons to hire Jim Harbaugh, but he is not a QB whisperer, and it would not be something to expect him to succeed at.

He’s a good coach and wins everywhere so idk what else you want.

[–] ImEvadingPermaban@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I find it hilarious that they didn't even attempt a forward pass in the 2nd half. Just ran it through their faces. THAT'S WHAT THIS TEAM SHOULD DO.

[–] dantes67@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Harbaugh is definitely not a McCaskey coach. And I don’t see he and Ryan Poles fitting well together. I would imagine Kevin Warren has some pretty good intel on Harbaugh after running the Big Ten.

[–] bowski44@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The 49ers team couldn’t stand him after 3 seasons. NFL is not NCAAF

[–] Foxstarry@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The man hates Pete Carroll, the nicest dude in the NFL and NCAA when he was there. Enough said.

[–] radiotsar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think I'd rather have Trestman back than see Harbaugh trodding the Bears sidelines as HC.

[–] Equivalent_Willow567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The McCaskeys would never lol

[–] captnxploder@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I've wanted Harbaugh as a the coach since he was fired by the 9ers.

Unfortunately, I think Poles gets another year, and that probably means Eberflus gets another year just based on how he's talked about him recently.

If Getsy isn't gone by next year though I'll be pissed. Whether we still have Fields or not, any QB is going to get ruined if he's still on the team.

[–] cruyff14fan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's not gonna happen. I don't remember the details, but Harbaugh was in power struggle with the 49ers GM way back when. Bears don't hire these types of coaches. They hire yes men.

[–] 12ay@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I find it hard to believe the bears will pay a coach over $10m per year on top of Flus' money they owe. I don't know much about the sign stealing or watch much NCAA so I will ask the obvious question. Is he only winning cause he's cheating?

[–] _-AirBuddDwyer-_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They had their coach suspended because the program cheated, and they were acting like Harbaugh has been nailed to a cross. I think it was ridiculous, and if Moore hadn’t been the one weeping I’d say it was down to these guys being kids. I still doubt you could build this kind of self righteous fervor around an NFL team

[–] needmorecoffee99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's probably an unpopular opinion here, but I don't want that cheater.

I'll take Flus over a cheater.

[–] TheTDog@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Extremely dependent on his coordinators. The one time he coached in the NFL he had Fangio and Greg Roman.

His offense at Michigan has been notoriously… mid. And not until recently have they come on. It took like 7 years at Michigan to solve his QB situation, and it’s not like JJ is throwing the ball 30 times.

I’d lean towards an offensive minded guy that calls his own plays.

[–] letseditthesadparts@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Going to take more than a single coach to transform this team. We’ve seen some individual players make strides on this team and it’s hillarious that it’s all players. But when shits terrible it’s all coaching. This is a bad team that with a great coach is mediocre. This is not a playoff team with even the best coach. Do not kid yourself. This isn’t to see eberflus shouldn’t be fired he should be.

[–] In-the-bunker@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dear George, all of Chicago thinks you are a doofus, you can begin to change that by hiring Harbaugh. Fire whoever needs to be to make this happen.

[–] pantstofry@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I fucking hate harbaugh, and I hope the bears get him. If the bears hire him that would be fine cause either I get to continue being a big hater if he sucks or if I start liking him it’s cause he made the bears into something.

[–] porkbellies37@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If Kevin Warren is in charge, I trust him on the decision to pursue or not pursue Harbaugh. As the former president of the B1G 10, he should know pretty well what he brings to the table, good or bad.

I don’t trust Poles with the decision and I don’t trust the McCaskeys. I don’t want anyone making the decision based on how it affects THEM or based on sentimentalism.

[–] BuckyGoodHair@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Bears will not pay him what he wants nor give him the control he’d demand, everything else about him at Michigan aside (he genuinely loves that institution and it loves him).

[–] MrChevyPower@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anyone but Trestman/Fox/Nagy/Eberflus

Bears ownership has a type and it sucks ass.

[–] Puzzleheaded-Ear9487@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is Harbaugh the answer to the young, innovative offensive coach everyone is begging for in this sub? He’d be here one year and everyone would be asking for him to be fired because his offense isn’t innovative enough.

[–] sportslance@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So we know if he would even accept the offer, I mean we threw garbage at him when he played here.

[–] fargunkle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Quite frankly the bears rarely do cool shit like this. I thought my life peaked when we took Fields. That was seeing my franchise draft a Lamar Jackson/Vick prototype at quarterback and to ask to see us commit to the right quarterback and head coach at the same time—I’ll be 6 ft under before I get that

[–] Upbeat-Cattle-762@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dumb post. Virginia is never going to hire Harbaugh. Find something better to do with your time until McCaskeys sell.
