How many games do you see the Panthers winning the rest of the year? I see 1 or 2 max.

Top 3 pick looking like a lock, top 2 pick likely if Arizona and NE pull out a few wins.

I don't profess to know that Fields is our starter long-term. Though I hope he is.

I do have a question for the people who want to trade Justin and draft Williams or Maye. Are you so confident that he's a bust that you'd be okay with Poles trading him to FTP?

[–] Bergamot29@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thanks for the serotonin Carolina!

Reading your sub yesterday and the rest of the season will surely pick me up anytime I'm feeling down.

[–] JM4G@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That was awful but a dub is a dub. Bagent had another chance as a rookie qb2 and it wasn't much. idk if the coaching got to him.

Defense works 100%, 60% of the time.

The offense looked very disjointed. Getsy seemed to want to add in a whole bunch of motion. During the first half, we had 2-5 pre-snap motions going on every play. It looked like it was confusing our team as much or more than it was confusing the Panthers defense. I thought the offense looked better in the second half when we took a lot of the motion out.

My amateur takes:

The Bears are so much more boring to watch when Fields isn't playing. I like Bagent, but man is it boring to watch the offense when he leads it. It was really cool to see him win a couple games, and I liked how they were getting media attention other than coaches being fired or Fields being a bust. But I'm ready for Fields' final evaluation. It's clear that the offense's ceiling is so much higher when Fields is under center. Hope he had some Rodgers-esque revelations during his injury period.

I've never seen so many bad throws come from both teams in the same game. Even though the Bears won, this was still a primetime embarrassment in my eyes. More embarrassing for the Panthers for sure, but the Bears looked bad.

Glad to say the Bears are clearly not the worst team in the league.

Lots of huge drop backs and all day to throw for Bagent on numerous plays, but to no avail. Are our guys really covered that well or did the coaching staff neuter Bagent too? He has never been that indecisive (yes I know he missed Scott down the middle).

This secondary is really solid when healthy. But the 'when healthy' thing is an issue.

Good to see the "grandpa" generating a ton of pressures yesterday.

Our run game is sick. MORE PLAY ACTION.

With regards to Flus/Getsy/Fields/etc., I think if one goes, they all go. Keeping one and not the others would contradict our complaints for when Fields was a rookie with Nagy.

OL looked good and that makes me happy. Moore is so electric. Foreman actually is good idk wtf to do with the backfield. Fire Flus and Getsy stat. Draft Maye, take BPA with our pick, spend in FA, profit.

[–] dropay@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t want Poles drafting the next QB. I want him taking all the BPA so we have a good team around whoever the QB is. He could’ve had CJ Stroud and passed. I don’t trust his evaluation of QBs.

[–] captnxploder@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It was actually nice to see what the defense is supposed to look like with our secondary finally healthy and some semblance of pressure up front. Hopefully that's the trend moving forward.

On offense it seems like the only things we have going for us lately is that the O-Line is playing pretty well.

We should've won this game by a lot more but Getsy continues with the trash playcalling. He's getting carried by our run game which is more of a product of the O-line than anything he's doing. He's gotta get binned after this season.

[–] Unabridgedversion82@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well it wasn't pretty, but we got the job done. Just going to enjoy the dub today 🐻👇

[–] ElectrosMilkshake@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I hated watching it but this was the win we needed and we got it. I don’t really care what happens to us the rest of the season.

[–] CaptainHoss@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They won and I feel nothing.

[–] Who_told_you_that@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fundamental aspects of the game like catching the football, snapping the football, and tackling are still problems for this team 1.5 years into this coach’s tenure.

Seriously, how many dropped INTs does the defense have? I count like 7 or 8 over the course of this season so far. You cant preach this as an aspect of your philosophy but continue to fail to live up to it.

[–] BigDig2202@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

A win is a win.

As a unit, the defense performed as expected against a bad team. The defense needs to learn to wrap the fuck up when tackling. The secondary is still young and rough. It doesn't really seem to have developed or gelled under Eberflus. Might be due to injuries?

I still don't understand the hype around Sanborn (or Kmet). Dude is average at best and made a play against the worst team in the NFL. Then again, I dont really understand how Roquan wasn't a "scheme fit," but it's in the past.

Media hype/narratives aside, Bagent does not look good, but he looks competent, especially for a rookie. Outside of a few missed throws, it's clear the Getsy offense is massively limiting for both QBs. With the way the Oline and Foreman have surged, the offense shouldn't sputter as much or be so screen dependent.

Looking at the schedule, I think there are at least 2 more wins, whether Fields or Bagent starts. With Fields and Sweat, they should be able to eke one out against the Vikings and bully the Packers.

[–] Soulvaki@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Kmet does a lot of the dirty work, can catch, is durable, and wasn’t THAT expensive. What more do you want from a TE? Travis Kelces are a rare breed.

[–] kidkessler@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ve thought Kmet to be one of the bright spots in the offense this year. Why do you think he has been overhyped?

[–] bigbaddumby@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Roquan wasn't a "scheme fit" because he SUCKED for his last half of the season as a Bear. He was legitimately playing himself out of a contract. That is one of the reasons he got traded and why everyone was fine with it.

Sanborn isn't flashy but he makes plays every game, aggressive, around the ball a ton, and is a sure tackler. He's the lunch pail guy you want one of your linebackers to be.

[–] robbing_banks@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is just wildly untrue.

[–] QuandaleTickleTipson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Frank Reich had a cool ass hat

[–] BlueDwarven@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Does anyone still think Poles is getting fired this offseason? Whether we think he deserves it or not, he's almost certainly gonna get to hire a second HC.

[–] Dtrain323i@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The 1st and 30 drive is where I turned the game off

[–] Offsets@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

It's just nice to go on r/nfl and see the backseat GMs starting to shit on Bryce Young instead of Fields.

One annoyance is a lot of people are giving Young the benefit of the doubt--people saying he has no one to throw to and the coaches suck so it's not his fault. I wonder where that same energy was during Fields' last 2 seasons. 33 year old Adam Thielen is better than any of the WRs we had last year.

[–] Tlupa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wait until Bryce’s 3rd year. If he’s still playing poorly he won’t get slack. Most people were agnostic about fields after year 1

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m still giving Bryce the benefit of the doubt. His HC was Eberflus mentor and his OC has exclusively been a RB coach his whole career

I felt we should.have run the ball even more, it was working well and I would.have made them commit even more to the box to stop us.

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I half think Getsy was trying to show Bagent was better for his offense than Fields rather than calling the game with the most successful plays

[–] 2017_2017@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why the f**k was Jason Kelce on the broadcast?

[–] hotpocket@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Still hate the coaches and play calling. 3rd and long, let’s go short. 3rd and 4 let’s bomb it down the field.

[–] QuietGiants@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Its real hard to gauge this team when all we do is perform against other under performing squads. Defense looked promising but is that an indictment of the Panthers more than our own team? Too hard to tell. All I know is fuck these coaches.

[–] Impressive-Unit2878@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Justin fields time to throw on the season: 3.04, bagent on the season: 2.89

bagent last game: 3.06

can we just fire getsy already? it's pretty clear that his offense looks so anemic and terrible. both quarterbacks literally look the same behind his miserable coaching. we'd be 4-6 wins with any other coach/OC....

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yep, the last 4 games should put to bed the terrible narrative that time to throw was completely on Fields.

However, although the O line has played much better, Fields could help himself out throwing the ball away more.

[–] The_Wata_Boy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The team won ugly. We normally don't find ways to win that way so that was good. I think its funny people complain that the team barely beat a bad team. Bros that's how you become a great team. It doesn't matter who you're playing in the NFL you just find a way to win. The best teams in the league do that every week.

[–] nachosmind@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It would hurt in the short term, but I hope we really commit to losing 8 in a row and Marvin Harrison Jr. It would set up the team for 5 years

[–] Kiriko7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m curious was last night our first successful 2 minute drill I feel like we always just concede and head to the locker room

[–] Schicktopia@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bears are terrible. Panthers are terribler.
