Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

volcel-kamala best I can do is a 10% reduction in bombing for Palestinian college graduates with a Pell grant that operate a business with at least four employees that can program in JavaScript

The list of people who could receive it just leaves this perfectly visible trail for exactly how and who argued and compromised to the "solution." It could be forever used as a case study of how compromise compromises. People who were super serious about needing to "deserve" the relief got it whittled down to business owners who succeeded in the market™ and a bunch of spineless white moderates got it to apply to black people in poor areas. When the first was happy that only deserving people got it and the second was happy that the group was limited to an oppressed group, they said "now it's a good list" and published. Just perfect

I had to double-check the source. At this point the Onion should print boring normal news as a parody bit.

The Israeli military said they would be no full ceasefire, just tactical, local pauses for humanitarian aid.

Sounds like this is complete PR nonsense. They are not instituting any blanket 'pauses' really, but Biden admin wants to say they got Israel to do something.

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

biden-alert "Listen Jack, we got Israel to institute 'humanitarian pauses' in the fighting"

Liberal media: crying, telling their children about 'Joe Biden the peacekeeper', spinning up stories of how he should get the Nobel Peace Prize

Reality: "We can just tell them that the time we already spend regrouping and resting between assaults is us doing a 'humanitarian pause' "

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

"These pauses will be held in the parts of Gaza that go four hours without being bombed because we are bombing elsewhere"

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 30 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

This is so cynical. Cartoon villian evil.

Oh fine I suppose we can break for lunch and I need a couple hours bullshit to other countries to arrest their citzens making me feel bad about my final solution.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 30 points 2 years ago

Just like the starvation rations, libs will screech about how humane they are and shout us down for not being satisfied.

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 29 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'd put money on the pause time calculation being based entirely on how quickly they can replenish bomb stockpiles.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

[–] impiri@lemm.ee 17 points 2 years ago

We did it Joe

[–] panopticon@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

How much of that is the time it takes to land, refuel, rearm, get lunch and coffee, use the toilet, be briefed on new targets, hail Satan, and take off again

Edit: also they're not gonna wait the rest of the four hours

[–] hopelessbyanxiety@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I bet the idf is going to make pauses of 5 minutes every 30 mins or something like that, and at the end of the day the pauses add up to 4h

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

Just adding up all the time it takes to reload and refuel the bombers/drones and calling that 4 hours.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago
