Bijan has 103 carries to Tyler's 116.

Bijan is 22nd in rushing attempts, and is 41st in redzone rushing attempts (seriously what the actual fuck).

It is absolutely criminal his usage. Even if he was a 7th round pick, with that production, I would expect him to be RB1, but the EIGHTH pick to be used like this is shocking.

I cannot comprehend what Arthur Smith thinks is best for the team, when our 3 best offensive skill positions are basically just used as decoys.

Any Falcons fan could tell you that Kyle Pitts would be 1st team all pro on most teams, the man catches literally anything and is always open, but nah, Jonnu Smith is our guy.

Following this team is mentally exhausting and draining man. So frustrating, we have talent now, use it

[–] Remarkable-Gap-9024@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Embarrassing amount of people in here defending Arthur Smith. You get the ball to your best guys period. It’s what the best coaches in the league do and it’s not complicated

[–] TheRealGunn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My only explanation is that it's actually the year 2199, and billionaire Arthur Smith is playing Madden, and we're all just characters in his own personal Matrix.

Jonnu Smith is his create-a-character.

[–] Hollerino@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Who needs first round talent when you have mid to late round players?

[–] content_enjoy3r@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Arthur Smith is a football terrorist.

[–] lUNITl@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fantasy got you guys maaaaaaad

[–] Imbahr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean isn't it kind of a good idea to spread out carries amongst RBs nowdays, to reduce wear & tear, and also keep them fresh in-game?

Unless Algeier is significantly worse (which I don't really know)?

[–] BoredGuy2007@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The only people angry about this are fantasy football nerds. Allgeier isn't a bum.

[–] BrickOk3271@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Manage his load, and avoid what Garrett did to Zeke. Bijan has the potential to be high impact for some time, but that goes down the drain without load management

[–] Quik_17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What Garrett did to Zeke was genius lol and they probably would have won the Super Bowl if they didn’t switch to Dak from Romo a couple years too soon

[–] KuatoBaradaNikto@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bijan is outsnapping Allgeier by almost double, so I definitely wouldn’t call him the RB2 even if the carries would give you that first impression.

[–] PaddyMayonaise@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I still don’t know why they’re drafted him when they already had Algeier.

Why do we have to get these posts every day about our player’s usage? Since when did anyone give a fuck about what the Falcons were doing? We’re painfully irrelevant.

What were y’all’s expectation? Bijan was gonna come in and run for 1500? Lead us to the SB? Let it go.

[–] bigBangParty@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's what they get for drafting the guy with the most hype

[–] dudewithchronicpain@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They’re protecting an asset they drafted high. They aren’t winning shit this year so why ruin your future?

[–] Quik_17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is exactly why teams like the 76ers have never come close to winning shit. Culture is so important and giving up in a season where you can easily make the playoffs does more to fuck your chances in the future than not “protecting an asset.”

[–] TumbleweedTim01@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Allgeier isn't bad at all! But it is insane to spend such a high draft pick and use hi sparingly

[–] avx775@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (9 children)

Everyone saying it doesn’t make sense to overuse your rookie RB if you aren’t competing are whack. The point of every season should be to win games. The falcons can win their weak division and who knows. You can’t keep saying next season. You gotta go out and win some football games. Bijan gives the falcons the best chance to win. It’s not like the falcon are 3-12. They are right in the mix and only half the season is done

[–] CD338@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah I'm not sure what those fans want. Bijan to get a 2nd contract? Cool, now you are paying a position a ton of money and trying to build a Superbowl roster around that.

[–] Klutzy-Spend-6947@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No doubt. RBs have a shelf life.

[–] T-Nan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The point of every season should be to win games.

I fucking HATE fans that want their team to tank, or intentionally lose games.

It's the dumbest mindset, and no player wants to walk out and lose. No one does except shitty fans throwing bitch fits.

When we were 1-4 I saw so many "fans" were saying to tank, and I can't stand it

[–] KingGerbz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m in the boat that there is never a reason to tank or not give it your all to win. Even if you’re 0-16 heading into the last week. Establishing a winning culture and giving your fans something to cheer for is far more important than any high draft pick, resting studs, etc.

Not getting stuffed three times in a row in the redzone because you are RB#2 is going to help your Y/A. Plenty of "backup" RB's have had better efficiency stats in part because of the quality of attempts.

[–] LstNvrFound@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Arthur Smith has to be intentionally tanking, and he’s just really good at selling the whole “I’m just that smart” shtick

Yeah but just think about how triggered all the fantasy bros are at this. Isn't that really the point? /s

[–] TripleSingleHOF@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Arthur Smith is a football terrorist, but the devil's advocate in me says Bijan partly has such a high YPC because he does split carries.

[–] Beef_Jones@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nailed it. Allegeier takes the inside short yardage work with defenses knowing it’s a run.

[–] captainklaus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ok….. but the other guy in the committee is averaging less than 4ypc, shouldn’t the balance be shifted to the productive side of the committee at the very least?

Any time ya make the choice to rock that mustache u better expect consequences outside your control.

[–] ChannelNeo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bijan must have stock in UPS.

[–] drnuzlocke@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This reminders me a lot of early Singletary for the Bills where his Y/A were really high but I think they were putting out the husk of Frank Gore each week.

And this is worse because they used a much higher pick on Robinson

[–] grehgunner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just saving him for the Super Bowl run obviously

[–] Andy-Is-Hot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

While it is criminal this does ignore the game Bijan was allegedly ill or whatever

I think Arthur Smith is a spiteful assclown

[–] tuckastheruckas@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

smith bad, bijan good

[–] yaprettymuch52@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

it is really strange because bijan is the type of guy you use to break a defense down over the course of the game. by using him as a decoy or like kamara in his rookie season (less than that) you minimize the benefits of his rare size/speed combo. i get not wanting to run him like zeke but they would probably really benefit from a workload like 75% of that

[–] hockeydavid97@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean wasn’t bijan sick one game? If you exclude that game wouldn’t it be pretty much equal?

[–] big_red_160@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ve been saying I am praying the falcons lose the next two games. He has been getting away with it because they have been winning (although their record could be even better). If they go on a 3 game losing streak while Arthur is being a dick and not using Bijan, I imagine the owner makes a call and tells him to give up the bullshit and to use their top 10 draft pick more.

There’s no explanation other than Smith trying to prove he is better than everyone else and him trying to piss off fantasy players. That’s literally the only reason why he is doing it

[–] TheTurtleShepard@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nothing the falcons love more than taking highly skilled dynamic players and never using them

[–] wesomg@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why isn't anyone talking about Bijan? Whenever there's a post that isn't about Bijan, everyone should be asking "where's Bijan?"

[–] heelhooksarefun@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Arthur “Hamas” Smith ladies and gentlemen.

[–] Salty_Orchid@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I know hindsight is 20/20, but could you imagine the Falcons with Will Levis? Wow.

[–] Dave_Pumpkins_01@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

and is 41st in redzone rushing attempts (seriously what the actual fuck)

You have to be in the red zone to get a lot of red zone attempts.

Using total rushing attempts this way is dumb, straight up.

[–] LeCharlieHarden@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Falcons could have taken Jalen Carter and instead took a RB just to use him essentially as a decoy. Horrible coaching and horrible front office. Neither are on the same page as the other.

[–] FirelordSugma@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Arthur “baby geniuses 2” smith

[–] TipTup85@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

You don't take a RB that high if you aren't planning on running them into the ground while they're useful

[–] nukebox@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I've just assumed that Arthur Smith didn't want Bijan with that pick and is sparingly using him to prove his point somehow. He's pulling an Art Howe from Moneyball.

I mean, I disagree

you don't draft a player that high just to run them into the ground when you're QB options are Desmond Ridder or Taylor Heinecke. If Bijan truly is a "generational" RB, it makes sense to use him sparingly if you feel like you don't really have a great chance to make a run. You don't have to necessarily wait until his second contract...they could have a better QB option in years 3-4 of his rookie contract
