Extreme sickos game warning. I am so ready
NFL
A place for NFL news, game highlights and everything that excites you about American Football.
Baker Mayfield breaking the losing streak in Cleveland is the first TNF game I think of
These games tend to be some of the most entertaining ones
TNF needs to go away. It's sloppy and injury prone. I refuse to watch it, even if my team is playing.
Minor league hockey is awesome. Arena football is awesome. As a kid my parents couldn’t afford Bears tickets or Blackhawks tickets. So we drove to the Allstate Arena and saw countless Chicago Rush and Chicago Wolves games because tickets were dirt cheap. Some of my favorite memories as a kid. Minor league sports matter and I will not tolerate this slander.
Thursday night television over the past 30 years....
90s: Seinfeld
00's The Office
10's/20's: Crappy football
It would be much more interesting if the Bears didn't have the Panthers pick. As it is, there are no stakes. Whatever happens, Bears win.
As a Bears fan I don't even want to watch this game, let alone have all of America see our miserable team. They need to stop having us on primetime, it's embarrassing lmao
Having said that, a must win for us to pump those #1 pick odds for the Panthers. Let the Shitter Bowl begin
As a Bears fan, I am deeply disappointed that one of the two teams will win this game. Praying for a tie.
Personally I don’t really like watching MNF. I think that’s just because i hate mondays and the week is just starting. TNF is nice on a Friday eve no matter whos playing.
TNF: the trash tv of the NFL
So many adverbs
I’m fine with bad football, but fuck no to penalty filled football
Sometimes it's about how the teams match up, more than how good they are. Two crappy records could equal a entertaining game.
Yesterday I woke up and was like "Oh, tomorrow is TNF, who is playing? CAR & CHI? Yeah I'm not watching that."
But I know when I get home from the gym I'll turn it on.
The jets-bills color rush game aka the “NFL hates color blind people” game.
Lol when you said bad football, I immediately thought of the Jags years ago.
I appreciate it because I just pretend Thursday night football doesn’t exist most weeks
I disagree. TNF is about watching Al Michaels grouse about watching bad football.
I really hope u/nfl reads these kinds of posts
My going theory is the league is fucking with Amazon by giving them turd games
Can't wait to hear what Al Michaels thinks of this game. Can't wait to watch.... oh wait, it's not on TV smh.
Also worth noting: tonight’s matchup pits the first overall draft pick Bryce Young against an undrafted QB from a D2 school. Bonus for the narrative: the Bears own the panthers first round pick this year making this an absolute must win game to control one of their losses on their schedule. I’m ready to watch 2 steaming piles of dogshit dookie it out!
Games between two shit teams is much better than watching a great team stomp a bad one
Battle of who gives a shit
Foreman is going to feast
So there seems to be this idea that the NFL has strong motivation to put really good games on Monday and Thursday nights, simply because they are prime time slots. Probably because places where it's discussed r/nfl, sports shows, etc are made up over above average NFL fans who will watch any game they can. The more typical fan is probably much more inclined to watch their favorite team, which is typically their local market team as well as games on Sundays. MNF and TNF run late on weekdays when people are busy and have to work or go to school the next day.
The most likely explanation for the shit games in those times lot, which is nothing new, is that the NFL has found marquee match-up provide a bigger ratings boost in the SNF and 4:30 national slot. Where as MNF and TNF show similar viewership regardless of game quality. Big market teams will continue to get MNF because a team's specific fans are probably the largest sector of viewers for that slot so it's more important to have a large fan base than a good team in terms of ratings.
The NFL and their broadcast partners are really good at making money via football broadcasts, so it's pretty nieve to think they are not making decisions like this purposefully, and that it is not in general a successful strategy.
I haven't really had a chance to see Bryce Young in the NFL yet. I know he has had a rough rookie year this far, but I am still looking forward to it.
i have next week circled as my current odds on favorite for game of the year.
This will either be a 40-37 thriller or a 6-3 slugfest and I can’t decide which
I don't think it's going to be as bad as people think. As someone who is well versed in bad football - this Bears team is pretty watchable. They move the ball well and play hard. It's also kind of cool watching the number 1 overall rookie go against a D2 rookie who worked his way into a starting job.
Titans v Jags is always nice on TNF...
we at least got a 99 yard TD run out of one of them.
Im legally obligated to watch but for everyone else, run as far and as fast as you can away from this game
Bengals at Ravens coming up next week to cleanse your palate
