It’s cause of all the cat hair on the monitor.

Damn so bad.

“And my day is ruined” lol

That's one of the reasons I started pirating again.

[–] NoDangIdea@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ve never had this problem before, weird

You just need a pass through, real easy to get around.
I just use this.

https://www.amazon.eg/-/en/INDMEM-Capture-Recorder-Compatible-YouTube/dp/B08YJYTBVV

Don't even need it hooked into a pc... just needs power.
The dock acts as the original screen.... so they think nothing funky is happening.
The hdmi out... option allows a "copy" of the video in... and voila.

I can video capture all my netflix or disney shows.

But I use mine for video game capture and/or just having my firestick on my pc.
You can prob's find a version of that on your local amazon.... it's just the first link that came up when i typed in the name of my card.

I bought it because of the passthough function..... PS3... is not friendly with capture cards because it's protected audio. lol but works great on there

Four words: Jellyfin + Arr software suite.

[–] jereezy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This shit all started with Macrovision...

[–] Garpet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ok what’s the difference between that and a streaming box? Just let us use the features on our devices!

You can only use airplay

[–] Awesumson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I read an article that some multi HDMI plugs strip the HDCP which allows them to not detect this. I’ve not tested it yet but worth looking into

Disney+ thought my Logitech wireless gaming headphones (they come with a USB dongle to plug in wherever) was a screen recording device. Idiots

[–] GerardVincent@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Its a Disney+ thing

Smart tv’s have twitch and I’m quite happy about that

[–] New-Lawyer3088@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The NFL app is the same, can’t mirror to the tv.

[–] SirMaster@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well I assume that the video output is not HDCP protected? Therefore it assumes you could be recording the hdmi signal or something.

[–] Fobulousguy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is why I use movie-web.app instead of my services sometimes. Just goes straight to the movie. No menu bullshit.

[–] ChesterZirawin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I ask this risking sounding dumb, but can't you mirror wirelessly? I just swapped to iPhone so I don't know, but on samsung i just used "smart view". Now that I write this it seems to be a monitor but since I wrote all this I might as well finish. Anyway, how can I mirror my screen (can I) without buying one of those apps on app store? The thingy from drop down doesn't recognise my smart TV

[–] Pleasant-Worry-5641@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Pirate this shit, stop supporting such behaviour. Companies have gone from selling you a physical copy of something that you could what you wish with to this type of shit. Do they forget that streaming services is what saved them in the first place?

[–] MacAdminInTraning@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The joys of DRM. Try a different cable/dongle, if that doesn’t work try a different monitor.

[–] Ardent_Flux@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just use Chromecast

Apple basically caused this to happen. Use a third party app.

[–] Gelato_33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I can't even extend my laptop to my TV via hdmi without Hulu thinking I'm doing something shady.

Which is hilarious to me because I'm already on a PC. If I want to rip what I'm watching, I can just do it without being detected.

[–] Maleficent-Pipe-7317@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Though the error says screen recording, it is technically flagging you taking the display out to do whatever you want with it, which they don’t want you to do.

This is not a problem with the iPhone. If the screen doesn’t support HDCP it won’t work.

I can watch Disney+ from mine with a HDCP compatible screen.

[–] Confident-Appeal9407@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean they have a valid reason, also wrong sub.

[–] Super-Ear-6230@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s because streaming services support a DRM called HDCP. There are cables that support this and prevent recording over screen sharing. You need a HDCP supported USB C / thunderbolt cable and it will work

[–] Never_enough_Dolf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I am actually able to pull this stuff off by using a USB-C docking station with an hdmi port, but not a direct connection to the screen.

Not sure if that’s well known, but my fiancé and I have our parents Netflix account which works flawlessly thru my phone using this method.
