Say money isn't an issue-- would you rather own both a MBP 16 and MBA 13 (pro for heavy work, air for portability and travel) or one MBP 14 for all purposes?

None of the above. I’d take maxed out M3 Max 128GB RAM + 8TB drive and an M2 iPad for real portability.

MBP 14 plus an external monitor works great for me. Without an external monitor, I'd probably stick with 16" and use it for all purposes, but I don't travel often.
