I hate Bill Belichick so much. But he is undeniably a top 3 coach of all time and imo the best, it hasn’t been good lately but firing him mid season would be one of the most disgraceful and disrespectful moves of all time lmao.

[–] ItsDrManhattan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The rivalry is pretty much dead as it was really more about Peyton vs Tom than us vs them, but if we were to retire Belichick i would absolutely be stoked about that lol

[–] mostdeadlygeist@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why is this picking up steam? They just extended him. Unless they want to pull a Raiders and pay him to be fired?

[–] salmon1a@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not a good look to fire a SB winning coach during the season ...oh wait nm

[–] minero-de-sal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

With Josh McDaniels

[–] kirkochainz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So you’re telling me “NE-Coach” from the Madden franchise is about to become canon?

[–] WithAFrickingPencil@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“Journalists” have the perfect grift.

  1. Make vague statement that is technically true. Belichick COULD be replaced after any game, but also this one.

  2. Journalists get to ask questions about said report.

  3. Write pieces on response to question about report.

[–] jnightrain@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

technically they COULD replace him before the Germany game too, but they aren't doing either this season.

[–] callmecyke@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Surely you give Bill the full year? The bell is definitely rolling but the man coached your team for a quarter of a decade and won 6 rings. If he doesn’t get to finish a season who does?

[–] G0ldenG00se@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah they could replace Belichik. Belichick could also quit to hunt down Nazi zombies. Doesn’t mean it’s likely…

[–] LE22081988@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe you try Hansi Flick as a new Head Coach while in Germany

[–] Alexm2018@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Regardless of the teams recent performance, this would be an absolutely disgraceful move. Bill helped win us 6 god damn super bowls.

maybe he's decided he's ready to walk away or there's a health issue.

he's not getting canned mid season

[–] FirestormBC@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No way there are this many people saying “Bill Belichick deserves more respect!!!”

Fuck that. Bill would make whatever the best decision was for the football team regardless of how cold-blooded it was.

Everyone in here saying he shouldn’t be fired mid-season for “respect” don’t understand a single thing about Belichick.

[–] My-Cousin-Bobby@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There is 0 way it happens, but it would be so poetic that a Colts win gets the Pats to fire their HC, just over a year after the Patriots win got the Coltds to fire their HC

[–] Inamanlyfashion@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The only reason I give this any attention is Reiss is mentioning it, but I still don't buy it. Even if Kraft wants to move on from Bill, mid-season is going too far.

[–] MrThunderkat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Unless Bill is killed in Germany I don't see this happening. Hell id be shocked if they didn't let him go until he surpassed Shula as a thank you for all he's done.

[–] HesiPull-UpBrando@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Belichick getting fired mid season would be something most people would never ever see coming

[–] OneAngryPanda@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I could bang Hugh Jackman but it’s probably not happening

[–] Tschmelz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Man, if Kraft really is idiotic enough to get rid of Bill (not to mention mid season), Pats really do deserve to be the new Lions for the next 60 years.

[–] Raticus9@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So, that's it after 24 years? So long, good luck?

Yeah. The odds are better of winning powerball than BB being fired in season. I wouldn’t take odds of him being fired if he went 1-16 for the season.

[–] MorganleFaey1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is there a reason why people are assuming Belichick will retire if he leaves the Patriots? He seems to live and breathe football and I’m sure teams would line up to give him jobs, albeit not as GM. I just don’t get the vibe he’s done yet

[–] Steakbomb90@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If Belichick gets fired, there will be a mad dash to hire him on another team. Coach's that didn't even have a bad year will get fired just for the chance at Belichick.

[–] chloroform4@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Didn’t he get an extension like two weeks ago?

[–] Marquee_Ditchwriggle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Do it you fucking cowards.

I'm old. I remember the pre Belichick/Brady Pat's. Go back to that. McAfee says It's good for the brand.

[–] TheLionest@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

There is absolutely no way in hell Belichick gets fired mid season. That would be a disgrace.

No way in hell they replace Belichick

[–] DeM0nFiRe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] ItIsYourPersonality@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What if they leave him in Germany and make him find his own way home?

[–] tony_countertenor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He immediately becomes the most sought after head coach on the carousel this off-season surely

[–] Kablarnage@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’ll be coaching the chargers next season.

[–] LurkyOtoul@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The only right way to fire BB is a golden handshake during the off season. If they fire him mid season I’m no longer a fan.

[–] PenFlinger@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I hope he gets fired, so he is available to star as the new villain in the next Cobra Kai season.

[–] AshKetchupo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There would be something poetic about the Colts retiring Belichick.

[–] Early-Retirement-22@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Replace him with Drew Bledsoe, that would be hilarious.

[–] Bears9Titles@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Boston media is pathetic.

[–] njdeatheater@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] benevenstancian0@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean, woudn’t you want to beat the rush of teams looking to bring on Bill O’Brien or Joe Judge in the off-season? Better lock one of them up as interim ASAP.

[–] ThisIsTrace@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If he gets fired mid-season, that would be so disrespectful. It has to be after the season.

[–] Adventurous_Caramel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If there’s one thing to be certain of with all this Patriots drama, it’s that their eventual Secret Base Collapse video is gonna be hot fire.

[–] AnxiousEzrael@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Josh McDaniels is available

[–] dawgz525@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] fROM_614_Ohio@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bill Belichik’s nepotistic hires are dug into Gillette Stadium like ticks. Three-decker men at best. Who is going to be left on staff if you let go of Bill mid-season. You have to clean house entirely to get rid of Belichik.

[–] CanaDoug420@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the Patriots fire Bill mid season Kraft should have his team taken from him. The disrespect for a guy that won you 6 rings. Have some fuckin respect and tell Bill to resign after the season. Embarrassing shit.

Added: for the dumbass that deleted his comment they did not trade Brady in the middle of the season. They let him go to a loaded team in the off season instead of signing him to our shit team so Tom could carry a garbage roster for another year. Trying to compare them is dumb as hell.

[–] kp0038@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think what is more likely is an off season "retirement"

[–] Legndarystig@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Come join us Darth Billy you can be our other great coach that has the first name of Bill.

[–] somersquatch@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just beat writers trying to stir the pot. There is a 0% chance the Patriots fire Bill midseason after what he's done for the franchise. 0%, and I'll wager anything on that too.

[–] Jedibug@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If this happens someone will pick him up immediately
